I've been looking through the threads here and I have found a few different posts covering what kind of builds to give squadmates to make them more useful.

That said, a lot of them seem to be tailored to just general and all around use, or more toward being paired with a soldier Shepard.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I should spend the points for my squadmates when my Shepard is going to be sentinel, probably an assault sentinel, and playing on insanity.

I've actually only done one isanity playthrough (and its been awhile) so far as an Infiltrator, and my squadmates seemed to be pretty useless, I honestly thinks it is more in how I built them than anything though, and would like to try again and see if I can get more out of them this time around.

Any advice anyone can give would be great. :)

My favourite squadmates for my Sentinel (and probably in general, lol) are Jacob and Miranda.

Jacob:
Pull - 4, evolve to Pull Field
Incendiary Ammo - 4, evolve to Squad Incendiary Ammo
Cerberus Operative - 4, evolve to either, I don't think it really matters a great deal
Barrier - 0, remove the point after you do LotSB

Miranda:
Overload - 4, evolve to Area Overload
Warp - 4, evolve to Unstable Warp
Cerberus Officer - 4, evolve to either, I don't think it really matters a great deal
Slam - 1, though you won't really use it

This set up means you have an effective warp bombing unit coupled with the excellent Squad Incendiary Ammo. Sentinel strips defences, Jacob pulls, Miranda detonates. Mop up. Fun. Armament is fairly self-explanatory, Jacob gets the Geth Plasma Shotgun and Miranda gets the Tempest.

Thanks for the reply.

It is similar to what I was thinking of doing, but wasnt sure about yet.

Also gives me an excuse to finally use Miranda and Jacob all the way through together, as I haven't had the chance to yet.

Miranda sounds like a waste given that you already have both Warp and Overload, though that depends on whether you'll be wanting to go on the offensive with Tech Armour or spend more time shooting from the back and spamming skills. If its the former you won't really have the time to be setting up Warp Bombs on your own.

I am wanting to try to go offensive with tech armor, using a shotgun and melee.

So far I've mainly played using a Infiltrator or Soldier, and am wanting to try and play a different this time around, and the in your face approach with Sentinel seems fun.

Why not play Vanguard in that case? That class pretty much defines 'close quarter shotgun to the face'. I'm wondering why i held off playing it for so long, its a completely different game when you can just zip to the side of the enemy lines, shoot someone in the face, hide behind the nearest cover, then repeat it 4 seconds later. You get completely different perspectives of the battlefiel.

Because I want to use Sentinel. :)

I've been reading through several guides, and so far the general consensus is that Sentinel has better survivability for that playstyle on Insanity, and the tactics used for the Sentinel appeal to me more.

Another good squad a little later on in the game for any Sentinel with Heavy Warp and Guardian is Jack and Samara/Morinth.  With their passives maxed, they provided the quickest cooldowns for teammate Pulls.  You'll be setting off Warpbombs galore.  Though that video displays an Assault Rifle Power Armor Sentinel, the same tactics can be just as easily be added to the repertoire of the Shotgun Assault Armor Sentinel.  Also while you could opt to spec Jack and Samara with Pull Fields, as in the video, instead use some of those points to gain access to both their Squad Warp Ammo and Area Reave.  The continuous Warpbombing tactic is unchanged by whether or not Pull has a radius.

I'm with philiposophy. Jacob and Miranda make a solid team, especially for a Sentinel. Bear in mind that you can recharge your squadmates' skills instantly with Tech Armor. With careful timing, Miranda can detonate her own Slam with a her Warp.

If you don't want Jacob's ammo power, drop him in favor of Tali or Legion. Their drones are terrible for most Shepards, but Sentinels can make the most of them with Tech Armor's instant recharge. With all of the defense you get from distracting drones and Assault Armor, you really have no excuse for dying.

I'm tossing in another vote for Samara and Jack. Warp bombs! Warp bombs everywhere!

That is a very effective build, but I think the original poster wants to focus on Assault Armor and close combat with the shotgun.  In my experience, such a Sentinel spends his or her cooldowns on refreshing Assault Armor more than anything else, meaning that one character with Pull is more than enough.

Seriously... squadmates are geared for Soldier but not Sentinel?? Everyone is amazing with Sentinel. This is true regardless of what style of Sentinel you are playing, provided you are running some form of Warp and Overload in your build.

The Sentinel = ME2 Superman. Its only 'weakness' is low innate dps, meaning teammates are only really required to shoot their guns (ie: everyone is good). Just to list a few of the combos I use myself:

Samara & Jack = Invinciblity vs. unprotected enemies. On the lower difficulties, you will literally clear rooms in seconds, especially on the Collector missions. Warp bombs are totally OP from casual to veteran.

Samara/Liara & Miranda = My personal favourite for my CQC Sentinel. A Take-All-Comers team that strips any defense instantly and generates firepower with Warp bombs. Also happens to be highly resilient to return fire as well. Having Miranda means she & Shep can take turns blowing defenses and biotic combo-ing, plus having an option for insta-cast combos. Stasis + Insta-cast Singularity = retarded OP.

Grunt & Mordin = Big damage team. Best vs. Krogan + Collectors. Me and Grunt tank massive damage and shotgun fools in the face. I strip defenses too. Mordin mostly just casts direct damage and damage buffs. No brainer 90% of time. Other times call for cryothrow.

Garrus & Miranda/Kasumi = My anti Blue Suns / Synthetics team. Shield/Armor breaking followed by merciless Overload spam. Shadow Strike = big long range damage.

Jacob is a good early stand-in for Samara/Jack

Thane is a good stand-in for Miranda if I want to bring bigger guns.

Tali is a good stand-in for Miranda/Garrus vs. synthetics b/c of AI Hacking + Energy Drain.

Legion has great dps and AI Hacking.

*Miranda is by no means a 'waste' for a sentinel Shep. In fact, she's overpowered. If things work out the right way, I'd strongly consider Miranda AND Kaiden on my team in ME3. Fewer warp explosions but meciless Overload, Warp & CryoThrow spam. Image IPB

Yeah, Samara/Jack/Liara's cooldowns are enough to fuel continous warp bombs on their own. Besides, enemy defenses and Shep's own warp slows the pace down considerably, so there's often no need for two pull bots constantly pull spamming. On the lower difficulties, it's probably better to PullThrow combo with those two.

Thanks a lot for the replies and advice guys, I appreciate it and its helped me get in the right mindset for getting my Sentinel going, will be starting it up once I get home today.

I will probably end up doing a lot of mission restarts trying out the different team combos you guys have suggested so far, though so far it seems like I will for sure have Miranda along side me quite a bit. :)

It should really depend on the level. If the threat is blue suns, miranda and jacob/jack/samara are great. If you are fighting collectors, samara and mordin would be my choices.(samara handles defenses from collectors, mordin handles husk armor), blood pack mordin and jack/jacob/samara.

I keep seeing people referring to Grunt shotgunning people and frankly i call bull****. On those rare occasions you can get Grunt that close to the enemy either its a smallscale fight and he's probably assisted killing everyone with his rifle, he gets torn to shreds, or he charges them THEN gets torn to shreds.

^Sure. I've done it and others have too. I didn't realize that Grunt's personal safety was such big a concern to you. Image IPB

But in this case, I'm right up there with him taking fire, so he's really there to tag along with me. He still has a bit to learn, but he tends to do pretty well for himself, and when he does fall, he just picks himself right back up.

Personally on my playthrough, I used Jack and Samara, for their cooldowns. It worked really well with the cooldown that the Sentinel can achieve, which lead to a lot of warp bombs hahahaha.
