OK, so I've played the game through twice with two different characters (both imported from Mass Effect 1). I'm now replaying one of these characters a second time, to maximize their levels and make a few decisions differently along the way. Problem I'm having is I can't take the Normandy's elevator down to the engineering deck. I get a disc error during the trip and have to restart the game every time I try. Nothing wrong with the disc as far as I can see - no scratches, etc. I can travel to all other decks just fine.
Thought I'd be slick and install both discs to my 360 HD to play from that instead, but I notice I don't have the "play from drive" option showing up that I used to have. Don't know if this happened in a LIVE update, or what. In any case, the "play" option is the only one I have, and I assume the game is still running from the disc as I get the same disc error trying to go to the engineering deck.
Tried deleting my cache - same error.
I haven't tried deleting DLC yet, as I'm trying to avoid doing that. I have all available DLC, and didn't have problems with any of it during previous playthroughs. I MAY have downloaded Overlord and Shadow Broker DLC since my last playthrough, so those are flagged as possible culprits. Also, Zaeed is currently the only recruited character I have on the engineering deck, so his DLC is another culprit.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and/or if deleting DLC is my best option to try and fix it. Thanks!
Disc error on Normandy elevator trip

I might check the play from disc option later to see, but corrupted dlc have a habit of preventing you from even starting games rather than just accessing that bit of the game (at least on my experience). I would suspect it's something else rather than the dlc causing a problem.

Well, that's something at least. It must not be a common bug or problem, as no one else has commented on it, and I haven't been able to find anything about it elsewhere on the boards.
I may still try deleting Overlord and Shadow Broker DLC, as those are the only things different from my previous playthroughs as far as I recall. I think I still couldn't access the engineering deck even before I recruited Zaeed this time. I've since also recruited Jack and still can't access the deck.
I'm no longer showing a "play from drive" option on games I've copied to my HD. I used to be able to go into my Game Library tab and select that. Now it only shows "play game" and "delete game." I haven't changed anything, so like I said, I don't know if this happened during a LIVE update or what. If I could somehow force my system to play the game from the drive, that might be something to try.

Play from disc seems to disappear. I guess it seems a bit redundant when the game is installed; at that point you don't play from the disc but it is used to prove you have the game.
The easiest way to play from the disc drive would be to uninstall the game, i.e., delete game. That way you wouldn't have to download the dlc again (or delay that option at least for the time being).
EDIT: reading about it seems Microsoft support suggests removing the HD. But given the game structure it would take ages before you can get to the Normandy to see if the problem is there.
