If I'm not mistaken, Bioware has rarely used mocap. I think the Asari dancers in Afterlife were the only animations in ME2 that weren't made from scratch.

Actually, a lot of the combat is/was mocap. Same with the walk/running.

It's really hard to make a realisitc looking run without mocap.

never mind hes definately not blind. a few seconds in (while hes still healing) theres a good close up of his eyes and they're normal looking. most blind people have strange looking eyes (ex: the templar in the aleinage)

Actually, most blind people I see tend to look a little off centre, as it's comfortable for the eyes to rest there.

Does Bioware do proper mo-cap or do they model it themselves? He's mannerisms seemed. . .off.

Well, that explains some things.

Wish they'd mo-cap when people are having conversations.  It would stop repeats on the same mannerisms, like that hand chop thing from Origins people did when they were mad.

From what little I understand, it's extremely expensive.

I think its this dev diary at about the 2 minute mark. Its not as bad as I remember I guess, but I still think something is "off" with most of these DA2 faces- its like they're all Botoxed up or something. I can't put my finger on it, but they just don't seem right.

I think it's

A) No lines and a very clean texture.
B) No emotion on his face. He's just speaking, not moving his face.

I've seen marked improvements in some videos, and others seem...bland.

The version of the video on the actual IGN site looks better, less low res.

Did any one else notice toward the end. That Hawke seems to almost be walking with a strut. (I'm a bad mofo) Except it looked like he was looking toward the ground. As opposed to his head being Held High.

He seemed to be studying the place.

Yeah and maybe a little on guard as well.

Hmm...okay I can kind of see what you were talking about there in the dev diary. But to be honest it doesn't look near as off as 'blind anders' as I'll be calling him.

If it turns out that he's not...then good. But if he is and Justice is his 'seeing eye dog' for lack of a better term...that would be pretty awesome.

It can't be that expensive.  A low budget game like Tales of Graces has full mo-cap during cutscenes and in battle sequences.

It's the same voice actor right?

I wish his face didn't look so different from Awakening Anders. :(

I think I'd recognize him better if they hadn't walked in on him during a "Justice" moment. I want to see snarky Anders!

Yes, someone asked him on his Facebook page and he confirmed that he's back.

Doesn't sound like Ellis to me. At all. Greg Ellis' accent he uses for Anders is incredibly different. I'm not familiar with where it's from exactly, but it's definitely not the same one. Also, the tone is slightly different. Imo, he sounds like Adam Leadbeater, who voiced Justice in Awakening. It's likely that they both voiced Anders, yes? Considering he's possessed by Justice, after all, and Justice's voice transferred to Kristoff despite it being someone else's body.

That sounded like a mix between Anders and Justice (which I assume is what they were going for).

Yeah, its hard to tell what is indicitive of the final game when it seems as if videos of varying builds are out there. But even in the intro of the game thats out there now, like you said, the skin textures are too clean looking, I think to the point of reminding me of some creepy Uncanny Valley robot.

That and how the movements seem stiff and in some videos (like the intro) the lip sync seems off. And if they're going for the more ME style cinematic look, that stuff needs to be top notch.

It seems like shoulder touching is a thing in Kirkwall, its a good thing that guy did it to Anders and not Fenris..or he would be missing a kidney or two..lmao

Also Anders is really starting to seem like he's going to be a fascinating character, I am so exciiited!!!

Why did Anders transform that middle-aged woman into a small boy?

This. And Anders' face looked terrible from a technical viewpoint. What's up with that?

Can we please have a confirmation from the devs that this gameplay video was set to VERY LOW?!

I hope that was the 360 version or at least the PC version on the lowest settings.

The footage in IGN's video preview looked good. Why does this look terrible?

Really though, that fur is so, so, so ugly. I hope it's an early build or those are low graphics settings, but I'm doubting that now... the ugly fur is pretty persistent.

It is odd his hair is so very much like Varric. Especially since you can see them both in that clip. Even the color is nearly the same.
Of course I have nearly the same style/color in my avatar, so I probably shouldn't complain. Posted Image

The animations looked awful in general.

Anders looks like he's daydreaming with a small grin on his face before he nearly collapses. And was he supposed to still have a light orb in his hand? Before that you can see they're both gone on the the side of the screen. Not to mention the kid's hair clips right through his neck...

Ugh...

Hopefully this is older footage, the level of graphics we've seen up until now have been leagues better so, i would suspect this to be somewhat old, as it looks no better than origins
