So, I got a hands-on (don't worry, no plot spoilers!)

You remind me of that dork on youtube who said he met the producer of Diablo 3 and the guy gave him a copy of it to play. You're clearly full of crap. You basically just told us all things we all already know without playing the game in a weak attempt to get some attention.
Last time I checked, not only have a couple dozen reporters been able to play the intro but hundred of people at conventions. The majority of stuff we know is from reports and sneaked vids from conventions.

So you already knew ALL that stuff I just said? ALL of it?
Yes.

It's also possible that the OP got one of the Gamestop demos that leaked out before the whole thing got shut down.
Were they leaked? Is that possible? I thought the code couldn’t even be entered (or rather activated) until tomorrow.

It could simply be that he has not followed it as closely as some around here have and wanted to share his thoughts on it. God forbid someone does that without the vitriol getting shot their way.

The issue is he claims to have a demo, not that he is sharing his thoughts. God forbid people be skeptical about a demo that no one is supposed to have, given the Gamestop employee version was pulled.

You mean there's people that don't check the forums for new DA2 info every day???
Perish the thought

Wow I know more than that from articles, site, wikia, and oh yes all the videos we have been given. I'm usually not rude in a game we are all anxious for. DON'T WASTE OUR TIME!
Well I'm not sure what to tell you. I know for a fact that the videos and previews DO NOT cover everything I have told you, (I covered more on page 2 if you are curious) but at the same time I don't want to reveal anything that'll spoil the game for you or get me in trouble by the mods. I don't mind if you don't believe me, it doesn't bother me either way. If you want me to clarify anything I'll try my best.

Actually, yeah. Everything you talked about can be found on these forums. Just curious, where did you get this demo?

I'm really glad you posted, thanks! For one thing, (3) is pretty much the opposite from what I'm seeing in trailers, and therefore encouraging, and (5) is new to me. Gotta say, I think that's a bad thing. I hate the click-click-click playstyle of that kind of attack. For one thing, it makes my hand hurt in a marathon play session. And it just seems like pointless busy work. I'd rather be worrying about the tactics and moving from character to character.lastridge wrote...
Hi guys,
I was fortunate to get a very early hands-on with DA2, and without spoiling anything, let me just say you have a lot to be excited about. I'll offer you all a few observations I made:
1) I nearly had an angry fit when the only char options were default male or female, warrior, rogue or mage. Thankfully, character customizing happens, but after the tutorial level is played (phew!).
2) It's true that you can't choose your race, you can only be human -which no matter what the reason - I think is a huge mistake. The best thing DA1 did was offer different intro stories for different races. Even if you never played all the intros, just knowing they're out there waiting enhances the quality of the game.
3) Graphics are definitely smoother & sharper, facial close-ups feature intricate details like fine hairs and skin pores.
4) Movement is less “robotic”, definitely feels more realistic.
5) Combat has changed a little. Instead of pressing A once to enter attack mode, you press A for each standard strike, then a different button for each special ability (like before). I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing yet. It feels cool at first, though I wonder if it'll take away too much from the turn-based RPG element down the track?
That's all I'll say for now. Despite the fact you can't choose your race (silly, silly, silly...) I think you're all in for a treat!
In any case, I find this far more useful and believable than the previews since you talked about things that could be negatives along with the positives. The previewers just seem like they're blowing smoke.

The Devs mentioned this before in a thread. I think they mentioned that there will be a toggle so you can switch between auto-attack or button mashing, at least on the consoles. PC is still auto-attack as far as I know.

But, if you did manage to play the demo early, then lucky you. But I think it would help your case if you posted something more specific. Just put a big SPOILER warning to let ppl know.
For example, I believe they said in the demo that after you play the intro, you get to play a later mission.
Perhaps you could describe that later mission a bit.......

You're correct. PC is auto attack just like DAO and there is a toggle on the consoles.

There's also a shortcut to attack nearest enemy or loot nearest container on the PC now, "R" if I remember correctly.Morroian wrote...

In the earliest leaked gameply vids, there was a Warrior talent called "Charge" where the Warrior rushes forward in a "flash" of light ( similar to the Vanguard Charge in Mass Effect 2 ).
I had been trying to get the devs to confirm if this "Charge" talent was a 2h only talent or if all Warriors could use it. Based on the most recen vids, it looks like the name Charge may have been changed to Scythe, a 2h talent.
Is there anyway you could take a look at the Warrior talent trees and see if there is a talent called "Charge" that is not part of the 2h tree?
thanks.

OP, most of what you posted, especially in your 1st post, IS stuff that's been known for quite some time. So, that's why I feel that many other posters here are a bit skeptical.

Very well, here we go:
SPOLIER ALERT - SPOILER ALERT - SPOILER ALERT
Just went back on and took a few notes for you. I'm only mentioning certain things, because I refuse to mention anything that'll ruin the surprise for you all, so here goes:
1) Firstly, there are six Warrior sub-classes called "abilities" in the game (I chose warrior class, and had 6 ability options, but my NPC sidekicks only had 5 abilities, not sure if that's because your character gets 6, or just that warriors get 6). Each of these abilities have a skill tree attached to them. Three of the warrior class abilities are: "Waepon & Shield", "Two-Handed" & "Vanguard". The other three begin with "D", "W" and "B".
2) The Mage class had 5 abilities. Two of these abilities are: "Elemental" and "Spirit". The other three begin with "A", "E" and "C".
3) I am sorry but I don't know anything about the Rogue class yet.
4) Your "resistances" (like fire, cold, electric, nature, fortitude etc) now have their own screen, so you can easily view where your defenses are weak.
5) The first three people you add to your party are named: "Bethany", "Carver" & "Aveline". Who they are, what they do, and their contributions to the game I will not reveal.
6) How NPC's see you are marked clearly on a bar marked "Rival" on the left, and "Friend" on the right.
7) Your "Inventory" and your "Character Info" are now on separate screens and are no longer merged. (ie, pressing RT in your inventory screen only scrolls through your equipment tabs. Character info is on a different page.)
8) Enemies are less inclined to just appear in front of you. So, if you charge at someone with your melee weapon, your Mage may be in danger from a surprise flank.
9) My final spoiler is this: You will encounter a familiar face in the early part of the game, and it is not who you'd expect!!!
This is all I'm saying. Make of it what you will - but feel free to collaborate and get back to me when your copies arrive.

Though I have to admit that I'm pretty sceptical myself. One of the biggest red flags in my opinion, you mention pressing the "A" button, indicating you're playing on the Xbox. This could really only happen at some convention, but you also claim to have the demo with you. So it sounds to be impossible to have not only a demo, but a console version.
Again, if it's true, then thanks for trying to pass on the info.
