I'm reading the Song of Ice and Fire series. It's pretty epic, with that and work it should see me through the month. I want to get Gaider's novels as well.
I'll be doing a re-read of Game of Thrones soon, in peparation for the HBO series.
I'll also be doing a re-read of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series in preparation for The Crippled God release on March 1.
Are the Malazan books good? Im looking for a new fantasy series, already done my Song of Ice and Fire re-read.
They actually are pretty damn good. Right up there with Martin. Actually, slightly ahead, since The Crippled God is the last book of the series . . . .
I am sooooo ready for ADWD. Have you tried Robert Jordan?
Been devouring Jordan since about '96. Have you tried Sanderson's works? Good stuff.
I;d also recommend Anne Bishop (Black Jewels triology and related books), Melanie Rawn (Sun Prince series), Michelle West (Sun Sword series and House Wars series). I'm currently finishing Brent Weeks Night Angel trilogy. Good, but not great.
Actually just restarted Weeks's Night Angle Trilogy. Try Terry Brooks, first one came out in the late '70s and was the inspiriation for most of today's authors. First novel parallels LOTR plot twist for plot twist, but after that its all good.
Read the original series and the two after that. Found it got a bit repetitious.
Sanderson did a passably decent job picking up for Jordan, some of the characters seem a little flat in comparison, and he's far more... transparent, still enjoyable to read though.
You're right, although I think he did a much better job in Towers of Midnight than in The Gathering Storm. He wrote Mat better, and Perrin actually had some life to him, which had been lacking for a while.
He has a different style than Jordan. Still good, though, IMO.
