This...seriously I swear people on these boards will complain about the most trivial things...so what...you have to be the default falt for an agonizeing 5 minutes or whatever...might as well cancel your pre-orders
Has it occurred to you that other people find things important that you don't?
If we have to play default Hawke for Varric's exaggeration I would literally have to turn the sound off and turn subtitles on for the for the duration so I don't associate the male voice with default Hawke.
That's just me. People of differing skin colours might object they have to play a white character.
Try to keep in mind that there are people with different priorities than you. It makes dealing with others a little smoother.

All I wnat is so consistency.
If they really wanted to have exaggerated sequences where Hawke as totally morphed beyond recognition the face shouldn't have been made availaleto players.

Why would he assume Cassandra wouldn't know what Hawke looked like, especially skin color? He's already risen to freaking power.. I'm assuming Cassandra is informed enough to know at least the basic information about Hawke... Varric would have to assume the Chantry are a bunch of complete morons..
It would be like spinning a tale about Obama and telling the interrogater that he was Asian...
More like saying that Jesus was white.
I wondered when someone was going to play that

Except of course for the fact that using default Hawke means it's perfectly correct with the physical description of Hawke.

Sometimes legends do get it right, sometimes you have a vision of a person based on incomplete information (like the sound of their voice) which just so happens to match the person to an uncanny degree. That doesn't validate the default appearance in any way, it just reinforces the validity of the preconceptions of people in Thedas about a person from Ferelden in that particular playthrough.

So you want it impossible for the legend to get Hawke's appearance right? Out of all the possible looks Hawke might have had, the only one he wouldn't be allowed to have is the one that people thought he had?

Frankly I rather he/she be taller than he/she is in game. Have a much more muscular body (or if female be extemely well endowed) wear elaborate bright and non-protective clothing. Have him/her do things he/she will never be able to do not just things that are only available at high levels.
I want it to be a spectacle.
Not this default Hawke is the one that would stick in people's mind the most despite looking like everyone else.

Honestly this is ridiculous, I know what bloody julius ceasar looked like from two thousand years ago yet mr Hawke who lives down the street, ooh I think he's brown eyed with black hair, beard and blood smear.
Why?
Because that's the legend and don't you dare walk down the street and look at him.

But apparently they're just trying to promote their silly little defaults with bloody noses. I see no other reason to force us to be that Hawke.

i'm not sure about this, but i think that you are essentialy playing the first part of the story twice. First you play the exaggerated scene, where Hawke single-handedly..., than you experience the same with your custom Hawke, your Family behind you.
aside from that, i finally remembered the word i wanted to use earlier: Tutorial!! (hard to remember
about Legends, i think a companion (Anders) talked about that in regards to Andraste (the statue in Vigils Keep Courtyard), wether or not she really looked like that. There is the legend about someone, and the true story, i don't think those two have a lot in common.

Too late for that, obviously.
But we know paintings are just an artist's interpretation. Without photography, we could be seeing inaccurate depictions...

Julius Caesar was 2000 years ago. Hawke, on the other hand, was 10 years ago.blothulfur wrote...

You know what Julius Caesar looks like because of our modern dedication to uncovering and preserving history, and because either you looked it up or you're a history buff. Ask an average person about Caesar and they're unlikely to know his specific skin tone or hair color or eye color, though they may know he's a white guy from Italy.
Hawke doesn't live down the street from the vast majority of people in Thedas.

Not to mention how many people in the whole world of thedas are going to have the time and the means to travel to Kirkwall to look at it?

And Cassandra who's got a book with realistic drawings of all the companions has forgotten to get one of Hawke, well aren't you an incompetent seeker.
