If my mind isn't playing tricks on me, I think that should be confirmation that in the actual game you will get to create your Hawke before you start gameplay.

Certainly looks like a custom hawke here:

Who cares? It's like the first 5 minutes of the game. Whatever.
You'd defend DA2 if it consisted of wario ware minigames that ended with "it was all a dream!"..
At least that's the impression I've gathered from your posts all over the board.. ANY complaint is met with a "Who cares?".. So, you should just start posting *generic Marshalleck quote here*, it would save time.
That is, unless I've missed some concerns from you as well, in which case disregard my post.

Why are we assuming that is how it works?
I would assume you create your character and then the game starts.
Because that makes sense.

Because the devs confirmed that it is the way it works. You choose a Hawke of preferred class and gender, do the exaggerated bit, then CC.

When did they confirm this?
Thanks,

I think the implication is that you can skip all the extra stuff and be playing a fight within 15 seconds. Not that you absolutely will be playing the game in 15 seconds. Still the implication that this removes all the stat micromanagement is a bad thing no matter how you try to spin it as streamlining. Micromanagement and character building is part of what made DA:O different and great. End of story.
As I've said before, the "15 second to action" is probably when Varric starts telling the story, choose your class and gender and get the default Hawke for that. For the exaggerated part there would be no assignment of skill-points. Cassandra proceeds to call BS (hopefully not a long way in) and he restarts with you going to CC-screen.
As long as that opening sequence isn't too long I'm fine with it.
That's pretty much it, yes. We're not removing stats, we're just moving them to after you get a chance to play the game.

I would assume that means you make your character, including face gen and class selection, but don't get any points to spend until after the exaggerated section.

It would be pretty nonsensical for
him to randomly change hawkes looks. I mean, if imagined hawke was the
hawke you made, but she had twice the muscle mass and a badass scar on
her face, that I could see in the exageration, but changing hair
color/skin color/general features seems pretty silly.

So the friend of Hawke and the seeker who is errr seeking him out both think Hawke looks like someone else, sorry but i'm calling shennanigans on this one.
This is a sure fire way to divorce your player from the game and the character they're going to make will seem devalued because it's not the real wiggy Hawke.
Unless the darkspawn around lothering are evil plastice surgeons.

This is essentially tantamount to complaining about the Hawke in the Destiny trailer not being your Hawke and using abilities not exclusive to one class. Varric has been captured, is being interrogated and is spinning a grand tale to throw Cassandra off. Why would he give a detailed description of his friend in the first few minutes? Not only is the tale exaggerated, but quintessentially untrue.
Why would he assume Cassandra wouldn't know what Hawke looked like, especially skin color? He's already risen to freaking power.. I'm assuming Cassandra is informed enough to know at least the basic information about Hawke... Varric would have to assume the Chantry are a bunch of complete morons..
It would be like spinning a tale about Obama and telling the interrogater that he was Asian...
Tleining wrote...
is this so hard to understand? Varric is exaggerating, he is telling a story of a champion who single-handedly slaughtered every darkspawn between lothering and the Free Marshes. The story, Hawkes abilities and appearance are a fairy tail he is making up until the seeker asks for the truth, and then you can create your Hawke and canon Story-arc.
