Good review as a whole....
The part about Bethany being boring concerns me as she was one of the companions I was most looking forward to getting to know.
Not sure why all this angst over Bethany. She's your sister. Who seriously was going to spend much time chatting up their sister? Yea. Ok.
Anyways, as a person who did his first playthrough just to see the conclusion of the story (ie: no endless sidequesting) in 26 hours, and armed with the knowledge that DA2 is even shorter, I always take gameplay lengths with huge doses of salt. The "50" hours is probably 16 for someone who's going to just fly through the main story. Which saddens me.
I'm getting visions of ME2 all over again. Improved gameplay and cinematics at the cost of plot/story. That said, complaining about this has to be taken in context. Even an inferior DA2 will still be a good to great game in relation to anything else out there, I'm sure.
The short development time does trouble me, but until Bioware completely drops the ball, I am willing to continue giving them the benefit of the doubt as one of the only PC game makers left that stand in my eyes for quality. I'm sure EA will ruin them eventually, but let's hope for a few more good years (and games) first, eh?

Normally their estimates are just about on par with me.. DA:O advertised at 80 - 100, my first playthrough was a little over 80 I believe.. ME2 advertised at 35 - 45, mine was right around 32, so not far off there either, and truth be told, I didn't explore some of the squad members in depth the first go around as Jacob/Tali/Garrus and Thane seemed wholly uninteresting so I'll chalk up the other few hours to not completing their loyalty mishs etc..So at just about 50 hours I'll be pleased.
The story structure remarks were exciting and the bit about combat helped to waylay my fears on that front a bit. I'm slowly getting less cautious the more I see and hear.. Here's hoping the demo will cement my judgment..

Well if everything is accurate, which for the sake of argument I'll assume it is, I'm pleased with the play time..

The camera view was a relief to see; it seemed high enough. I just want a sunset clause with that stupid online drm.

Ya, the camera seemed sufficiently high, that's good. The drm I'll stay away from discussing as I find nearly all drm to be a ridiculous crackdown on legitimate customers, especially since they're never a concern to pirates..

As long as there will be a cheesy quote from her, everything will be fine.
