Well atleast its not bad, and its from one critic so who knows.
I was so disapointed when I kept hearing, and reading that Killzone 3's story was horrible.

So perspective wise, I guess I can deal with this.

I hope it's not as bad and filled with plotholes as ME2 story was :(

One of the threads around here provide link where Darrah and Mike Laidlaw are doing demo. Mike Laidlaw said, "sexy", mean "cannot be ugly".

If that's all it means, then I could tolerate it.

So I know we aren't allowed to scan magazine reviews but what are the rules on how much we are allowed to type up from them and post?

Foggy at best.
Just don't repost the whole thing, handpick chosen parts to quote, paraphrase the rest.

The quote also says "maybe its best storytelling" though.

Was mildly concerned with that too Gibb, the story thing. Makes me wonder if its just because its not a 'big epic adventure' this time and more focused on the life of a character. It's all opinions ultimately you know. They may very well just not like Fantasy games (dark or otherwise) if its not based around some grand epic adventurer killing some evil force like DAO was.

PC Gamer UK isn't the publication it used to be, in my opinion. I'll be holding out for Eurogamers or RPSs review. Though by then I'll likely have the game myself.

I just hope "sexier" doesn't mean we will at some point have an unnecessarily placed Investigate option right next to Isabella's ass when we're talking to her.

If you want, gather and write with your own words all the pros and cons the reviewer has mentioned about DA II.

I think the 'sexier' is just in relation to the general term people use when they like the way things 'look'. Like a car, or a new TV - something thats appealing to the eye. I doubt everythings gonna come with a complimentary isabella ass shot.

If that's the review score then I'm not surprised at all, for I already had known it was going to be great. All that's left is for me to play & enjoy it. B)
p.s Not sure why people are skeptical about the score. Bioware took what was good in DA:O and made them better, similar to ME & ME2.

So what did they say about the visuals?

And what did they mean by "not gaming's best story", exactly? Did they have a gripe with it?

I think a couple of you are underestimating the sheer scale that Kirkwall could easily have in this game, or the greater degree of variance in atmosphere, and appearance of setting its' different districts and slums might be able to provide.

I'm just saying it isn't impossible to tell an epic story restricted mostly in Kirkwall... if Kirkwall itself is epic.

I think the statement that we will be spending a lot of time in Kirkwall may be misleading.
We already know of 6 major areas in the game (not counting Lothering): Kirkwall, Hightown, Lowtown (ok, Hightown and Lowtown are both in Kirkwall but still), the Gallows, Deep Roads and Sundermount.
Compare this to the 7 main areas in Origins (Denerim, Redcliffe, Orzammar, Bracillian, Deep Roads, Circle Tower and Lothering - have I missed any?) and considering Kirkwall is supposed to be much bigger than Denerim, I don't think this is going to be an issue.

[edit] Even so, they are still distinct areas.

Review??? The game hasn't even gone gold!

Usually there are special Review copies that gets shipped before the launch, even before the game goes gold, for the sole purpuse of having reviews by the time the game hit the stores.

I don't believe areas need to be distributed far and wide geographically to provide variation in surroundings.

Hmmm, perhaps this topic deserves it's own thread...

it doesn't say it's bad either, it could just mean it's the kind of story they've heard before but told in an original way as far as videogames go.

I would disregard this review, what are the chances of them having received a full copy of the game a month before release? Do these things even happen in the industry?
