DA:O had a pretty craptacular story, and it was the characters (and lore) that held that one together. I expect it won't be a problem for this game, as much as it was not a problem for DA:O.

uh....to anyone saying that the game has not gone gold yet...

no, The game could have gone gold but we were just not told yet.

Other developers pretty much stated that when the Achievement list goes online the game is gold

well that was about as I expected to be honest. Still I will reserve forming a complete opinion until I get my hands on the game.

>,,> I liked oghren. His is a sad story of a great warrior turning to the drink to cover up his pain over losing Branka to the anvil of the void, and in the process losing everything that he cared for... at least the burping lightens things up for him.

edit: oh yes in awakening I found him to be at least 6 notchs more annoying. Image IPB

Well.. I don't know about that . I enjoyed Origins story. Hell I enjoyed Awakenings story(though not as much). But yes I agree the characters, and lore are what really made the game.

Ha! Suck on that, CD Projekt! *thbpppppt*

He probably hasn't played The Witcher 1 or even Alpha Protocol. Anyway, the review is from a hype magazine most likely paid by EA to give a good score

It's always a good sign when people start dismissing reviews because they are too positive.

I admit DAO's story was standard dark fantasy stuff, but I dont think that made it bad. I enjoyed it quite a bit myself. I will say that the characters, and the feeling that Ferelden was a place with a lot of history, and intricasies made it all the more deep though.

Reviewing a game before it's even finished with tons of bugs and unpolished stuff and giving it a high score is NOT a biased review, no siree

I played TW1 and AP, and the former has a linear narrative, the latter has a framed narrative. DA2 has both, and I'd expect it to be more reactive in making player choice matter than either.

The CDP vs. Bioware vs. Obsidian vs. Bethesda and Witcher vs. Dragon Age vs. Alpha Protocol vs. Skyrim stuff on these forums is downright stupid. They're games with features, some good some bad, and occasionally comparable - but I see no reason whatsoever to either bring up The Witcher or CDP at all, nor do I see the point in assuming the positive review is the result of a bribe or quid pro quo. If later reviews are resoundingly negative, then we can look back on this one with suspicion. Until then, assuming that it is just seems bitter and dismissive.

Well, obviously people who haven't played the game are better judges than those who have. Also the opinions of said people who haven't played the game are completely objective.

Not saying that pay-for-high-score reviews don't happen, it's just that some people seem a little bit eager to say that this is the case here. ;)

Has he reviewed Witcher 2 as well? No. Has he even played it?

Way to be one of those "morons" you mentioned earlier, though. And Bioware, I'm sure, would enjoy if you kept sucking as well, if you get my drift.

Wow.... That's not sassy, FYI, it's plain rude.

My post is what's called a joke. If your delicate feelings can't handle it, feel free to cry openly. But don't post crap like that.

Im so sick of hearing about Witcher 2. Go to the damn Witcher boards if you want to slob on the Witchers knob.

And is it a good sign when "professional" reviewers review games before they're even finished?

But if he liked even the theoretically bug-ridden, unpolished and unfinished version, then isn't that really good news for the finished product?

Yes, because Bioware totally didn't send them the review copy or anything, you know, for reviewing.

Indeed, and anyone who gave the vanilla release of The Witcher a positive review and didn't mention the bugs, poor oprtimization, and insane load times could be considered "unprofessional" by that standard.  Or maybe they saw the good game through them.

What we have here are people who haven't read the whole review, haven't played the game, know nothing of the build the reviewer played, nothing of the state of the game at large dismissing a review because it doesn't confirm their preconceptions.

Um the game is finished dude. The fact that Achievments are even out is a sure sign that its done or has "gone gold".

Why are you trying ****** in our lemonade dude?

My god, the game is done, it's less than a month from release. Reviewers always get sent advanced copies of games in order to review them and thus hype the games before it comes out.

But I suspect you're aware of this, you're just clinging onto anything that could help your precious Witcher.

Not necessarily, no.  He could be completely biased on a lot of things; he could be an awful reviewer in general; he could be on the level; he could have been bribed.  Who knows?

A positive review does not mean the game is good, nor would a negative review mean it is bad.  It means that you can read this and take his opinions with a grain of salt, as what he says tells us next to nothing about the game.
