Definitely, the naysayers are often quite persistent with their baseless, dismissive attacks on things they have little to no actual information about.Count Viceroy wrote...

I would. Conversation wheel is the devil! (But maybe it can work for this game even if I don't like that aspect completely.) DEVIL, I SAY!Upsettingshorts wrote...

As a naysayer I'm both offended by your broad strokes and the fact that I share skepticism with the people for whom it genuinly applies.
If you're skeptical but don't cling to your preconceptions like they're your own children - I wouldn't call you a "naysayer" or criticize you in such a manner at all, really.

Anyway will read the full review later when i get home. In the mean time, does the review mention anything about DAO choices shaping the "country" and certain characters in DA2?.

After the initial "dragon effect" era of previews, yes.

Because the changes were so drastic. I was fully expecting to feel 'meh' about this game. This review has given me hope.Eclipse_9990 wrote...
The whole bribery accusation is a bit much, I think. I hope some more reviews come out soon, to add their own opinion on this. Besides why are some people so surprised that the review was good?
All the previews DA2 had so far, have been pretty good.

I never saw a negative "dragon effect" preview. Even the worst "they're turning it into Mass Effect!" previews always seemed to take that as a good thing.Herr Uhl wrote...

I still want to hurl insults at newborn puppies everytime I read a preview state voiced PCs as an uncontestable good.

Suprised to hear that alot of the game take place just in a city. Thats gotta be one giant city(?).
I'm not too happy about this, as I enjoy experiencing varied environments in my rpg's. DA did a pretty good job of this.
The part about how reactive the game is sounds promising, as does the 50 hrs part.

I don't know any of those people. They're a myth. Almost everyone I've ever seen be accused of fanboyism or "BDF" has had negative things to say about some aspects of Dragon Age or Mass Effect or even TOR.
To be fair though, very few "naysayers" as I describe them exist either. The ones that do are just persistent and loud. Most detractors of DA2 have their own logical reasons and are consistent in them.
However people accusing PC Gamer's review of being the result of unprofessional bribery are doing their best to be put in that category.

Might have been. But the way they talked about everything made me less positive. The later previews have more of the things I like listed.
Personal bias while reading it I guess.

What did you expect? With such a short development time they just copy pasted the same crap all over again. It's also much cheaperkingjezza wrote...
it says apart from a few trips to the deeproads and one trip to a Dalish camp the rest of your time is spent in Kirkwell, some probably wont mind this but for a person like me who likes exploring lots of new, diverse and interesting areas in games the fact that we will spend 90% (not an accurate percentage) of our time in the same city is a huge dissapoinment.
Yet costs us more money...50hr play time doesn't even cover my dollar an hour rule for games. Since game is 60+ bucks & if I wanted Sebastian Vael, another 7+ bucks.

I love the pessimism of some people. The game gets a great review (which we all want for it), but the review was too positive, so naturally the reviewer was paid by Bioware. Conspiracy theorists are the saddest type. Always drowning in their glass half empty.
I see critical thinking, and a familiarity with the reality in gaming reviews nowadays: they are highly biased, especially early ones.
The only way I know of to get a halfway decent 'review', is to consider an aggregate score.

I'd say that's pretty good going. Especially considering I am bound to do multiple playthroughs.

That I can agree with. Assuming that DA2 "is a 96" based on one data point isn't terribly wise. What this is is simply one very positive review from PC Gamer. Take it for what it's worth.

What I find interesting about DA2 is that it seems to be going in a new storytelling direction for a Bioware game with meaningful choices and consequences.

It would be very surprising if a major site dared to give a bioware game a bad review
Why do people say this? DA:O on consoles is the lowest rated big budget Bioware game, but it's still not a bad game by any means. Sonic Chronicles and ME galaxy were ripped apart, as was most of the DLC for DA:O. I think reviewers have been very fair towards Bioware's games and DLC.
