Soldiers. At level 60 (with the best armour and weapons) I'm practically invincible, with invulnerability active you can survive a few shots by a colossus.
I know, it's ridiculous, No balance at all.

Wonder why this thread is in the general discussion?
Because the OP doesn't have priveledges to post in the proper place. Supposedly.
Actually, he does have priviledge. Suuuuuspeciouuuus

Meh. They're only good if you have Legion and Tali on your squad. Plus, they're no fun to play as...

Charge is fantastic, and nothing quite beats the one-two combo of Pull and Lift on unshielded enemies.

As for the question posted though I will say that a Widow-using Soldier is the best, but by a smaller margin than what most people think.

Most fun to play = Vanguards
Most effective = Infiltrators
With Soldier a close second in both categories.
I agree completely.
As far as effectiveness, IMHO goes I'd rank them:
1. Infiltrator
2. Soldier
3. Sentinal
4. Engineer
5. Vanguard
6. Adept.
Fun to Play
1. Vanguard
2. Infiltrator
3. Engineer
4. Sentinal
5 Soldier
6. Adept
Of course with Loyalty Powers and Weapons Training you really get to become just about anything and customize your Shepard.

I hope you're right, because I just switched to that power last night before I had to make my Horizon run.scyphozoa wrote...
Most powerful class is Engineer with Stasis. Totally unstoppable.

So I've been thinking, with all the fights on which class is the best, I ask simply, which really is the best class and why?
Simpy which is the most fun and/or most efficient/effective?

Negative. FIrst of all, as someone else has said, they have an ability for pretty much every situation. Particularly health regenerators, Vorcha and Krogan are nothing with Incendiary Blast. Droids/Mechs? Peace of pie. The only time I've ever even vaguely struggled is against Biotic barriers. Not to mention ShepEngineer can fire around corners by arcing the crosshairs.
I also don't use Legion or Tali in my squad. I can provide all the Engineer shizzle. Jack provides my Biotic abilities and then I'll back that up with either Grunt or Garrus providing straight up weapon support (initially Jack, Mordin and Engineshep made one hell of a team, Mordin and myself double teaming with ice or fire etc). Plus Garrus was the love interest (femshep). They are fun to play, and they save on ammo if ever you find yourself in a tight spot regarding clips left.

If you want best control in battlefield and be able to easy finnish game you should take Engineer. He is especially effective in boss fights ( mainly Shadow Broker, makes him easyshmizy when harrased with drone's).
So in my opinion Sentinel and Engineer (and if I have to pick one I would pick Engineer).
But tbh. you can backup any class with your squad. For example if you play Soldier you should pick Jack, Samara/Morinth or Miranda to be your Biotic squad member (I would pick Miranda because of weapon dmg increase) and Tali, Mordin or Kasumi as your tech. But every squad member fits certain situation so you should for example take Grunt if you are facing battle with alot of enemy waves or hard dmg boss because of his impressive survivability.Or if you need high dmg and fast kill member pick Thane ot Legion...etc...

Soldier is just effectively simple, and gets everything done. Sentinel is probably one of the best. Vanguard is pretty cool. Infiltrator is limited, yet interesting. I haven't tried Engineer yet (but sentinel is being both a engineer and adept/vanguard).Dayshadow wrote...

adreline rush is awesome with soldier. it increases damage, allows for you to take out multiple foes (time being slowed down for a short time), and adds more health protection regarding shepard. Soldier = Adreneline Rush+Inferno Ammo (effective against any armor/sheild)+Disruptor Ammo (great for disabling mechs/a.i. robots)+Cryo Ammo(can come in handy)+extra power you select.Aleksandar Shepard wrote...
If we imagine classes fighting between themselves Sentinel would come out as victor.I gone melee against YMIR mech easily.Shields are just insane.I mean its combination of biotic powers and tech.Endgame you become unbeatable. But Sentinel is good for himself. His powers mostly focus on his own survival.
