Engineer (Tech): Drone? Can't hack a biotic with A.I. Hacking, etc vs. Adept (Biotic): pushing a engineer with THROW/PUSH, SHOCKWAVE, WARP, SLAM, SINGULARITY, or pausing them in STASIS = Adept dominating them, but Sentinel (Tech/Biotic) is a better option (Tech shield+Biotic Barrier).

Sentinel > Adept > Engineer.

Sentinel (Tech/Biotic)
Vanguard (Soldier/Biotic)

Sentinel or Soldier > Vanguard or Soldier  > Adept > Engineer.

You ARE talking about ME2, right? Since talents are on a shared timer, a sentinel can only be a weak adept or a weak engineer at any one time.  Not saying they are weak overall, just that they have no paricular advantage over a engineer or adept based on skills.  Not in ME1 or 2. In ME1 it would be whoever got off the first attack wins... maybe, unless the adapt switches weapons and shoots the mine or moves out of its range. And in ME2 adepts kinda suck because the game wasn't designed with biotics in mind so just about any other class would kick their butts.

Soldier is an unkillable beast, with a thousand claws if you use the Revenant.

Infiltrator with a Widow is basically the finger of a vengeful god.

Vanguard is good if you can use Charge properly.

Engineer/Sentinel are good if you bring combat classes along with you.

Adept is a broken shell of what it used to be. The planet sized nerf bat adepts got hit with is sort of my pet peeve. I really don't understand why biotics can't work on classes with armor. I mean, in theory, mass effect fields should work even on shielded or barriered opponents. Then there's global cooldowns.

I would be okay with EITHER GCD on biotics, or them not working on shielded/armored opponents. Not both.

Biowares doesn't know what to do with biotics. By the time an enemies shields and armor are gone, there is no real point in using a biotic attack.  Regular fire will get the job done just as quickly, if not faster. Hell, I can kinda get shields making you immune to the FULL effect, but the shield needs to absorb it - ergo, biotic takes weaken shields.  Pull should root a shielded enemy. Throw should stun a guy with shields. Singularity should make it hard for enemies with shields to aim. Something.

Armor makes no sense whatsoever. Mass is mass. Might as well say a T-shirt can make you immune to biotics.

I find Infiltrator to the class that makes the game the easiest. I think Soldier is dull, and Sentinel is kinda vanilla. Engineer is rather ineffective and boring compared to most other classes, and Adept, while fun to play, really relies on having the right Bonus Talent and squad to be effective. Vanguards are quite fun to play, but they are tricky and unless you know exactly what you're doing, Charge can get you killed pretty durn quick.

Heavy throw hits with 1200 newtons. And yet that somehow just damages armor. I know that biotics were considered overpowered in ME1, but the solution is not to make them worthless in the sequel.

Why even nerf a class in a game without multiplayer?

I'd begrudgingly say the Infiltrator. I prefer the Vanguard myself, followed closely by ME's Engineer and ME2's Soldier (tied for second), but the Infiltrator seems like the most qualified/diverse/powerful whenever I play it.

Keep in mind that Sentinels only can use Heavy Pistols and Submachine guns. Though if you have Kasumi and Firepower DLCs, then you have the perfect soldier.

Talking about soldiers, it's true that the Soldier is like a beast with a gun. I killed the Shadow Broker in mere seconds when I used the Revenant and AR

Personally I just love playing the Engineer. It never feels "weak". I tend to pick up AR training and use the Mattock. Bonus power of Armour Piercing Ammo. I find I can handle almost anything, strip down most defences, and generally wreak havok. The drone is useful as it can distract stuff.

WTF are you talking about?! :huh:Engineer can easily kill adept! Thats the whole problem with adepts. They are squishy!Engineer is equiped for every situation. You are talking like engineer only uses hack?! Have you even tried to play engineer before? Killing adept is simple = Overload his shields, incinerate burn him down wile drone harras him = the end.

I only agree with your claim regarding Sentinels, but that crap about engineer just shows that you never beaten this game with engineer!

And whats this thing about Vanguard? Don't let me even start with it.Vanguard might be fun to play, maybe most fun of all classes, but problem with him is that you risk too much.He can be more devastating, but I would suggest ppl to get abit exp ingame before playing Vanguard.Just try him on insane difficulty and you'll see my point.

I HAVE beaten the game as a Vanguard on Insanity thank you very much. Both games too. In fact, Vanguard is what I first beat either game on insanity with. (and because I value my sanity, the only times I've ever attempted Insane difficulty) Engineer is far too weak in ME2, and not nearly as much fun as it was in the original. He's hardly the little b***h you make him out to be if you use the right strategies for the class. As you should be doing anyway.

A "tech" Soldier for me.

Here are my stats for him.

Heightened AR

Heavy Concussive Shot

Inferno Ammo

Commando

Heavy Energy Drain

AR for tight situations and damage dealing. HCS for biotic barriers or tight spots where an enemy with just health has flanked me, or for simply knocking someone off a ledge. Inferno ammo for armor. Heavy ED for shields. Mind you I play on insanity for this Shepard. A lot of fun for me. And I like to think of my Shep as intelligent since he has a tech power. =)

playing a soldier on insanity I gotta say not impressed. in ME1 I cut through ranks of my enemies it was almost stupid to play. In ME2 I get hosed more often than not and I also notice my companions are about as useful as ****** on a boar hog (male boar for those who've never heard that before.) My lovely wife played an infiltrator iirc and did a pretty damned good job with it.

I enjoyed playing my adept, she was interesting in the second game as a biotic terror compared to the here and there biotics of the first game. Too weak hp wise to survive my play style on insanity though.

For me, Sentinel is my favorite, followed closely after that by Adept. Those are the classes I have the most fun with.

Another person who haven't beaten game with engineer and thinks he can post valid comment. Srsly...ignorance is a bliss no doubt.

FOR OTHER PPL WHO HAVEN'T PLAYED ENGINEER class : "Don't trash it in this forums or you will just become stupid as specimen above me"

lolling at the various people trashing Engineer. Engineer with either Jack or Samara and Grunt or Garrus backing you up is a lethal combination. It's definitely NOT a weak class. Im replaying ME1 with an Engineer and I do get the feel that it's slightly weaker in ME1 than in 2.

FOR OTHER PPL WHO HAVEN'T PLAYED ENGINEER class : "Don't trash it in this forums or you will just become stupid as specimen above me"

1. HasN't is the contraction you were looking for.
2. I have beaten both games on hardcore with the Engineer, and my previous reply made it perfectly clear that I had at least played the Engineer. This lack of observation either makes you an inattentive idiot, a troll, or just a regular idiot.
3. "Srsly"... REALLY?
4. I wasn't trashing the Engineer, I was just saying that he was a lot more fun to play in ME than in ME2. Which he was.
5. More grammar errors that stem from stupidity rather than laziness.
6.This ultimately is a matter of opinion, so even if I hadn't (which I have, in case you still haven't caught on to that) played the Engineer class, my answer wouldn't be any less "valid".

I'm actually a beginner in the Mass Effect franchise, and I've been thinking about which class to pick, but it seems that the engineer is the best class, or am I mistaking?

Arguably, there is no "best" class. Instead, there's what is best for YOU. I absolutely love the Vanguard class. I trash enemies with it and find charge insanely fun. It's a real rush to play a vanguard and to be dominating the field. Mine is a VG with the AR bonus; like I said, I dominate. :P

BUT a vanguard obviously isn't for everyone. It really depends on your preferred playstyle and how well you learn the class. Every class is capable of making it through the game and being effective, so just play around with a few classes and see which is most enjoyable for you.
