Ok so basically I want my character to be a medieval Jedi badass. Hence I am creating a Human Mage / Arcane Warrior with the hopes of not only looking cool and casting some devestating magic, but being able to chop a few heads off.

So my question then is will Arcane Warriors get some of these cool death animations I see for the other melee classes? When a warrior runs up and decapitates a genlock, is that just a random chance for a character wielding x weapon type to do y animation, or is it a special skill or ability that only warriors will get? Because I am really hoping my mage will be able to do some nasty work and look like he can cut people up with swords (even if warriors are way better at it.)

And that extends to the really fancy animations. If my Arcane Warrior is the last man standing and lands the killing blow on a Darkspawn Ogre with his 2hander sword, will he leap into the air and impale the thing in its chest like Alistair or another warrior might?

If they wield the weapon, they get the animation.

Niiice. Thanks for the quick reply but I wonder if you have any clue as to where this was actually stated or displayed in a video?

There is no information released on Arcane warriors, so Herr Uhl's response is pretty much all I know too.

A big if.

Well it is an educated guess, but it would no sense if a certain kind of weapon setup didn't have the same finisher. No sense I tell ya!

I believe the Devs have said the finisher moves are purely weapon dependant, so it doesn't matter if you're a human fighter, a dwarven rogue, or an elven mage, killing something with a longsword will result in the same finishing move.

dunno about that. but i used the katana like sword spell weaver. from the Andraste Urn quest. and i used it to kill ogres, awesome animation. the brood mother had a cool animation too. but the high dragon had an amazing death animation.

My arcane warrior does deathblows all of the time. It's just based on the weapon type and a percentage chance of it firing: character class has nothing to do with it.

Yep, I can verify from experience they get the death animations. I saw my arcane warrior deliver one with a shield strike to the throat, belly slash, then beheading. She also ran up an ogre's frontside, slit his throat, then split his head. Like, totally awesomely cool dude. Be nice if there were spell effects at the same time though. Haven't seen any spell effect fatalities as yet.

My second playthtough is with an arcane warrior, and i'm behading enemies since i got a chance to grab a sword at lvl 7, and i'm having good killing blow animations, so i confirm that. Only problem with arcane warriors is the lack of equipment (except one single handed sword), so in nightmere mode you either micromanage a lot changing equipment in fights or download the winter forge mod and build yourself a balaced set of medium armor with magic oriented stats.

You need to install the Unsheathed Spells mod to really enjoy this class. Otherwise, any spell you cast other than Arcane Bolt or Heal will make you sheath your weapon first, costing you precious seconds in combat, plus ruining the "Jedi Knight" effect.

The death animations do work, but due to the fact that you're often busy casting spells to support the combat effort, Alistair, Zev, or Sten will usually beat you to the coup de grace.

another spell where you can have your weapon unsheated is extremely cool crushing prison. Extremely cool for an arcane warrior :)
