Difficulty

They really dropped the ball with Awakening's difficulty. There were too many overpowered spells that made killing anything effortless. Every resource (runes, armor, mats, etc.) seemed to be directly in front of you. I hope DA2 doesn't participate in this handholding style of difficulty. Here's hoping Nightmare mode is more akin to GoA DLC.

Nightmare should be really unfair. So it might be Origins style (which, quite frankly wasn't hard even on nightmare) up to 11 thousand.
All this according to one of the mods... Peter something.

Awakening's difficulty was due to a bug in the scaling of the enemies. Due to this, the scaling will be handled differently in DA2.

Why don't they fix the bug?

Who knows? Perhaps for the same reason they can't/won't fix the other billions of bugs that still plague both DA:O and Awakening.
