I've already pre-ordered both games.
I own both The Witcher and Dragon Age: Origins and find DA by far to be the superior game.

That being said The Witcher was a good game.

Then why are Witcher 2 devs using Bioware for publicity? They must have little faith in their soon to be inferior game.

Funny, seeing that TW2's marketing is quite good, and has been running very strong since last spring, they aren't desperate.

also, Seb, i think you should just lock these threads down asap, no warnings. I can already see this going out of control.

What can I say, I'm an optimist. I'd hate to give the impression that we lock down threads that are critical of DA2. Being a jerk and attacking fellow forum users is unacceptable, though, and controversial threads tend to attract that kind of behavior.

And now look who's trolling. Besides these forums with BioWare fanboys try any other forums and you'll find nothing but hate for DA2, while nothing but praise for The Witcher 2

You are such a vitreolic demagogue...

Are they? Keep in mind that it's not like CD Projekt is running around screaming "We're better than BioWare!" PC Gamer dude was definitely fishing for a good quote and directly asked them to compare. What were they supposed to say? "BioWare rulez?" :)

Does there even need to be an argument, I mean nobody is stopping anybody playing both.

As for the games, I picked up the Witcher in the Steam sales over Christmas, it's decent enough but I've started finding it quite hard going at the moment, it's not even close to being in Origins league, at least in my opinion, I'm only on chapter 2 though and I've heard it gets better as it goes on so I may get into it more.

The Witcher 2 is looking rather impressive at the moment though I must say, with the graphics I'm slightly worried how it will play on my computer though.

Yet they take every opportunity to take a stab at bioware. Ah well, once the dust settles we'll see who remains standing.

The other thing–I don't really think it is possible to distinguish some of the things you're choosing between as 'good or bad' or 'good and evil.' We always like to think about when you have a choice in The Witcher, it's more like what I would actually do

Heh, well Gop is feeling rather pugnacious in that interview.

This quote sums up what I think is the most crucial difference between both franchises. DA is more of a traditional role playing experience. The Witcher tries to creep inside your head.

I think that was a very unprofessional thing to do.

And to think that BW gave them Aurora for TW1, talk about ungrateful.

I dont think ya'll give that impression at all honestly, but clearly people are letting unmitigated passion and are being complete jack-rabbits about these things. Ive seen controversial threads being discussed in a calm manner that is acceptable. Right now, there is none of that from either side.

Thats the only reason im avocating for a thread lock. Hopefully things get better. Posted Image

This was the first one tbh, the interviewers keep asking stupid questions without realizing that what makes both games great aren't mutual, they just loooove to compare.

I think that's your job.

I just don't see what's so controversial about the whole thing. That CD Projekt thinks their game is better? I certainly hope they do. I don't think think anyone should go into game development thinking "We'll never create a game as good as BioWare."

I can not believe people actually think The Witcher 2 will > Dragon Age 2.C'Mon Son get outta here with that.Witcher 2 is no where near as good story wise and game play wise as Dragon Ae 2

Oh you're played both, have you?

I say there's no way that DA2 will be anywhere near as good as The Witcher 2

No other forum cares, really. Outside of the BSN, there are no huge flamefests about which is the better game.

There were some lovely graphics in the witcher such as the whole submerged city at lakeshore and they were very evocative, equally the grand majesty of andrastes temple high above haven blew me away so graphics do have their place but only so long as the stories strong and both games were so i'm an indecisive arse who likes both.

I could barely stand The Witcher's gameplay, the "romances" were lackluster (lol sexcards)and the story was convoluted, I had to read the books to get into it.

I just can't see why people see them as mutually exclusive. They aren't sports teams, you can buy both games.
Precisely the same way I find console wars stupid, I own all of 'em.

Sure, the usual standard corporate issue, marketing friendly, legal department approved answer would be "We love BioWare, respect BioWare and so on and so forth." Personally I prefer if he answers straight even if that will ruffle some feathers.

Graphics are only a bonus to good gameplay. They are not the be all end all of a game. If all the Witcher 2 people can do is harp on the graphics, they're obviously insecure about other aspects of their product. Kind of like bragging about the expensive car you drive because you're insecure about the size of your johnson.

For some reason that quote from the Witcher guy reminded me of something Joe Morgan would say. Bioware obviously need to work on their scrappiness and consitency.

Arguments like these are why we can't have nice things. Why can't we enjoy both or one of these awesomely promising games without ripping on the other?
