Me too, just because it's not really expected - people will expect the elf with the "emo" hair (I *LIKE* his 'do) or the previously overly flirtatious and camp mage

Fenris is just too easy to turn into a bi romance. He's skinny and "pretty" with a slightly anime look to him and he's an elf, etc. Of course, this is all based on what we know about him so far, which isn't much. If he turns out to be a well-written character I won't mind, but nevertheless I'd prefer they go in another direction this time.

Oh, do not get me wrong, everyone has their preferences. Personally, I am open for all outcomes. But it just seems like certain options would be victories for the underdogs, like Aveline would have been. But implying that means that there was something wrong with her, doh. I hope it is understandable.



I am just wondering about the double standard, mostly, which may be going off-topic. It is okay to be "eww" out loud towards male companions, love interests, but not towards women.

I admit I'm curious about the male LIs, but I'm more interested in absolute confirmation on whether or not Merrill is an LI, as I tend to play males more often than females. Whatever the case, I'll likely be going after Isabela first time around because she seems like she'd suit my planned male rogue best.

I am hoping for Varric to be an LI. But if he isn't an LI, then I'll go for BFF with him. And then I'll just go for whatever male has the most appealing personality. But honestly, that person for me right now is Varric.

Edit: But I might go for Isabela. She's starting to grow on me.

While I am a man and only played a woman once in order to get the achievement for romancing Alistair I am hoping that the Male LIs are Varric and Anders. Fenris just makes want to facepalm: emo, scared of touching, stoic, white hair, dark skinned elf, glowing tattoos, and the ever powerful cliche "a living weapon". I cannot understand what people like about Fenris, guess that it's just me though

Where was Aveline's non-romanceable status confirmed? As was she confirmed as completely non-romanceable or just for women?

Oh, at this point I probably have that movie (and most of the Disney Renaissance) mostly memorized. Seen it at least 20+ times over the years. Possibly double that. (I like to rewatch favorite movies and replay favorite games a lot).

I think I might go mage if Merrill's an LI. Mostly because I plan on my first warrior being female. Whatever the class though, I know I'll be using my Dalish import for that play if she's romanceable. Just to see if it comes up in conversation.

As far as the annoucing of LIs goes... V- day seems like the perfect opportunity to me as well, though i know my male options( outside of the bi male option...which i won't be doing).

As it is it'll probably be Isabella, Merrill, Fenris and Anders. Isabella and Fenris being the bi options. Though if it turns out it's Anders that's bi, or even better, all 4, it would be awesome.

I imagine it would at least be mentioned a few times, regardless of her status as an LI or not. Pretty sure the devs mentioned that if the Warden was an Amell (which my main one is), it'll get mentioned. Makes sense that other origins would be referenced where it's relevant.

Heh, looks like I'm not the only one around here who can both enjoy dark fantasy and cheery Disney fluff, then.

If I recall, when Origins was still in the works, people expected a V-Day LI news blurp. I don't think it happened. Of course, that was close to the time we found out it was getting delayed another 6 months, so that might've been a factor.

The link is buried in the Aveline thread -- click on the bioware icon and you'll see the writer confirming the article and sharing his thoughts on Aveline not being a romance.

Didn't  one of the devs say Sebastian had flirt lines?  Then again he's a priest...then again he's the last heir to his family, sooooo...
I think I'll wait till March 8th, or we get a bit of confirmation on any romance. I think all the possible LIs look great either way.

Give me my dwarf. That's all I care about when it comes to romances. If he's bisexual, that just means it's a good thing we don't have specific LI-achievements, as no one else will be getting any.

You think it'd be great.  But the truth of it is that instead of larger than life, he'll characterize a romanced Hawke as bossy and nagging.

And the problem with Varric is that the story is being told by Varric, and our actions could be quite unpredictable over the course of the game. I can see it being very difficult for Varric to have a romance with Hawke.

Anders is gonna be a tough call remember that there is Justice within him too and don't forget that he's warped into some kind of vengeance demon I do feel we might get an exorcism and purification quest for Anders

He'll most likely change the story depending on what choices you make throughout the game, i don't think him being a romanceable is going to be a problem. Unless if there's not enough time, Bioware can voice act various roots and turns throughout.

As I said before, Bioware's making a tough ride for us straight gels and gay men. The male LIs do NOT come without baggage. Except for Varric. Who comes with Chest Hair.



From what her character page says Merrill does seem to be the Virgin Girl Next Door type (the comment about her not knowing much about the world) plus she's Dalish, which will mean relations with humans will be *fraught*. Isabela doesn't seem to have any qualms about entering INTO a relationship, but maybe she'll be hard to KEEP in one. I still think they've made it far more difficult for the gels and gay men though Possibly disproportionately so.
