That direction was mainly abandoned in ME2, though.

Can you be more specific? What seems to be the problem?

Weird. Happened to me as well. Maybe it will get fixed by itself later on.

People are worrying for nothing. Jack Wall hit is pinnicle with ME2 in my opinion, Clint has been around a long time, and composed some truly memorable stuff and worked on some very big film productions...

All will be fine...

interesting definitely suits the atmosphere of no combat pieces but not combat, the combat should definitely be epic and fast paced but i know that clint M wont disappoint as i trust biowares choice here. i think the best idea for what is needed music wise is dark yet epic for the final darkest part of the trilogy come on Clint M. anyway i hear jack wall isnt doing ti because he believes its time to move on and well good for him shame he didnt finish the series.

Yeah that's right, still a shame though, appearantly Sam Hulick worked on a track for Mass effect 3 that had that classical Sci-fi feel.

Well, it's been overdone, and it's a shame that it overshadows his other work.  I'm not saying it's a bad track - I love it too!

In any case, I look forward to what Clint Mansell does for ME3.  It'll probably be very different from anything else he's done (I doubt it'll be like Moon, any more than Black Swan was - he's gonna score something that fits with ME, just as Black Swan fitted with Swan Lake in a contemporary setting).  I just hope the story is good enough that it allows him to deliver some really emotionally charged stuff like his work on The Fountain.  That's really the main thing - the story.

I would, but I stole a part of it from another video so I am not so sure. :P

Well they aren't copyrighted and RWJ is making money from other videos, so do it.

Nice work Phaedon. Some recommendations for you:

The Doom film has a great soundtrack. Shame Clint Mansell's music went to waste on that flop.

Surprised no one has mentioned The Wrestler yet, quite simply an awesome soundtrack imo...

Standing on its own, maybe not particulary memorable or even 'great', but it fit in with the film seamlessly. And thats what I think Clint does well, he composes to the subject.

Definitely - each score he's done has always been appropriate for the subject and quite different from each other.  I've just listened to a track from the Doom ost*, which is very industrial rock, and now I'm listening to Lose Yourself and Cruel Mistress from Black Swan, which interweaves Swan Lake with his own work.  I'm sure whatever he does for ME3 will be distinctly Mass Effect, even with his "signature" on it, while still being distinctly different from his other work :)

*a cheesey as hell film, but it's a good thing he seemed to make the most of it

Agreed Awesome...

Like in the other thread about this, Wall (as good as some of his stuff is) is a talented guy (compared to me), but you cannot compare a game composer to a multi-million dollar film composer, they really are light years away from each other...

As much as I loved the music in ME2 (it's one of the few ost's I actually listen to regularly), I have every faith that Clint will produce the goods for ME3.

Sadly.

Experiment 1 is very good, it works well. :)

But the second video (experiment #3) - no, I don't think it fits at all (and I'm not talking about the combat in the video).

Need more of this tbh.../../../images/forum/emoticons/sideways.png

Edit: Was trying to find a slower track of similar style - www.youtube.com/watch

I don't see much point to further experiments, though I can still use two tracks for a few assignments.

Curunen, compare the part where Tali finds her father in the original one and this one. You'd be surprised.

I think BW should screw around with something that works fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I'll be here first thing in the morning ME3 is released venting at BW if this whole Clint music messes the feel of ME.

Hmm, after listening to that and the original I kind of see what you mean.
I'm not sure which one I prefer at the part where she finds Rael. The original has darker tones to it; a little more sinister, but perhaps a little too subtle. The experiment has more emotional impact (sadness/grief/despair), although I feel it is a little too powerful (that held note on the strings is too intense).
