I was just thinking about Mass Effect 1, and i said, "What if Shepard died on Eden Prime?" I mean, everyone wouldn't just give up. Someone else would have to step in and take charge of defeating Saren. So I ask you, WHO IS THAT SOMEONE? (P.S. no Conrad Verner comments please)

I'm sure they had other N7 operatives they could call on, Anderson and Shepard could not be the only ones.

Well Kaiden and Ashley were both there, so I would assume one of them. I think Ashley out of the two because she seems to have a more forceful personality, and has her squads death driving her. But her xenophobia would make things difficult, as well as her lack of leadership experience. But I think she would be the one to step up. Succeed? I don't know.

Garrus perhaps if he managed to get involved. Maybe he decides to go after Saren after his investigation on him.

But no matter which one, the outcomes are bit iffy.

Mass Effect is Shepard's story, for better or worse. If Shep died on Eden Prime, there would have been no stopping Saren and Sovereign. So, essentially, No Shepard, No Story, IMHO.

Seconded. Since someone came up with the idea of "For Want of a Nail", it must necessarily be an universal truth.



It's more likely that, given that the guy at the docks tells the squad about Saren and the Eden Prime beacon isn't really important, the Alliance would just have given the job to the runner-up for first human Spectre. So it's not going to be Ash or Kaidan.

They'd fail obviously, but at least they gave it a shot!
