Hey so I just started playing Neverwinter Nights 2, I know I am like years behind

Anyway, I decided I wanted to be an evil character, so I picked Neutral Evil as my alignment.  I am playing through the original campaign, and I am in Meldanen's Mansion.  I made it to the Apprentice and realized I was too low level to be there, so I left the mansion.  Upon exiting the mansion every citizen and most every one else will attack me.

While inside the mansion and I killed the trapped prisoner and the orc servant, so my evil alignment is probably near 50.  Is the game designed to have evil characters attacked on sight?  If so, how does one play an evil character?

So is this intended or is it a bug?  If it is intended how can I get back to a point where I am not attacked on sight? I believe, if it is a bug, It is messing up some of my available quests.

Certainly not intended, it sounds exactly like a faction issue. You killed someone that's the same faction as all the commoners walking around.

<snark>Everyone in NWN has omnipotent knowledge of everything you ever annoy or kill, off one commoner in one corner of Faerun and magically every guard and commoner on the continent knows and hates you for it. </snark>

Best advice, go back to a save before that.

And even though you are years behind, this is still the No Spoilers section. I will leave this here until Saturday in the AM and then I will move it to the NWN2 Original Campaign (Spoilers) Forums.

You know, so there are no spoilerific things in here about who, what, where, and when in the game you get to do things.

I hate it when I go to the movies and some punk kid's sitting close to me and telling his buddy during the movie, "... and then this guy comes out of that closet, right there..." That's what a spoiler is, in case you didn't know before. I always kick the seat and say, "Hey, I haven't watched the movie, I'd like to be surprised, okay?" Then again, I'm sort of mean that way.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't have a save that was back far enough, so now it appears I must start over =/
