Hi, I'm currently playing BG2 on my laptop and I'm experiencing some issues regarding lagg and the game generally running at a much slower pace than normal. I'm not very handy with computers so I tried my luck at google and found several advice saying it might have something to do with the 3d acceleration - some even reccomended to disable that function completely. Never really having done that before, I spent around 45 minutes (more google abuse) trying to figure out how, but to no success.
I still havent managed to solve this "game lagg" and I really want to be able to play BG on my laptop.
Any advice?
The laptop I use is pretty new, uses win7 and run most "new" games without difficulty.
PS: In case it really is the 3d acceleration, can you give me a "guide for computer dummies" on how to disable it?
Thanks in advance.

I think that option is either in-game or accessible via the game launcher. Just hit the configure button, if using the launcher, and then look around for the 3D acceleration options.

BG Config might be found with the launcer or in your programs folder in the start menu. You can enable and disable 3D Accelaration under the 'Hardware' tab. Under the sound tab you might try to enable 'No high memory sounds' and 'Disable all ambient sounds' by ticking those boxes. Under the hardware tab you can also play around with the sliders under 'General' 'Graphics' and 'Sound': I always slide them upwards (any PC nowadays is faster than 600MHz).

It works! And guess what the problem was... 3d acceleration was turned OFF, it had to be enabled
Gosh, after all the time I spent trying to figure out how to disable it.
Anyway thanks a bunch guys!

Thanks for pointing the way. Every system configuration seems to have it's own way of getting the game to perform well. Glad you found what has helped for your system.
