That would be a terrible idea btw. Human/Quarian hybrid= ABOMINATION

Also no hybrids! Its lame and does not make sense that we would be similar enough to a random alien to have kids (baring the Asari who don’t actually take alien dna and produce hybrids) especially since we don’t even have the same type of DNA. Turain, Drell or Quarina crossed with human? No way.

out of all my malesheps only the one with Liara wouldn't be opposed to a child, in fact - it would be a bone of contention between my renegade maleshep and Miranda (yeah she's barren, but she might end up wanted to adopt or use a surrogate. you don't just give up on wanting a child, merely because you cannot have one conventionally that matches your dna)

It's not like continuing a game with offspring is a new idea or anything, But I don't see what the problem is really. It gives a connection to the other game and provides story hooks that can be used.
I also don't see the fuss about "real" science. If it makes a good story and has even an iota of plausibility , go with it.
Is a Taurian/Human or whatever any less believable than coming back from the dead ? I don't think it is. It may not be accomplised in the traditional manner. But that's not to say it can't happen.

Honestly the plot of any new game would gain a lot more with a completely new unheard of protaganist rather than Shepard's sad mutant freak offspring.

Backstory#1 Biological Human child of Shepard.
*still working on short backstory*, not possible to have with imported Shepard that romanced alien or Miranda. With no romance mother/father is unknown.
Backstory#2 Adopted Human child of Shepard.
*still working on short backstory*, any Shepard import can have it.
Backstory#3 Biological Asari daughter of Shepard.
*still working on short backstory*, only possible if imported Shepard romanced with Liara and if ME3 will have new Asari romance.
If there is no import then player just chooses any backstory.

Don't play it then?
Like I said it's an option. Many people would play with Asari.

Really? I think that's the only thing that would make me even consider this idea.

Long time observation.
Show me at least one human related SF game where you can from default "save humanity" using non human character (heck even in Kotors you couldn't play as non human character when in matter of fact Revan could be Togruta, Twilek or even Zabrak like Bao D'ur).
Believe me i would love to play as Asari in ME but once again... in most human related SF lore non human main caracters are not welcomed.
However on the side note.
Who say that Asari actually don't serve in Alliance?
Just because we didn't saw them as crew members this doesn't mean that they are not there.

And like I said, IT'S OPTIONAL!
You don't have to play as alien if you don't want to, but for those who want( and there will be a lot of them) can play as alien.
Also my ME4 scenerio is long after Earth is saved.
It's going to be about something different thing entirely.
