Maybe, but how should a space opera look like?
I liked ME1's cover personally.

For me too, but for new costumers looks bland.

Mass Effect 1 had a really nice box. Mass Effect 2's box didn't capture the entire game. I hated the ME2 box art so much I bought the CE instead.

This is by far my favourite ME box art. Although I have to say it is a TAD reminiscent of Gran Tourismo 4/5.

But yeah way better than the others.

Well, the released description pretty much gave us an idea of the importance Earth is going to have in Mass Effect 3, therefore, there is nothing wrong if the box art features our world. Or that description isn't yet definitive and BW plans to alter it in the future?

As for the box art itself, it is by far the most awesome I saw so far (fan made only, of course). It could have some squadmates with Shepard, but, as we don't know yet how ME3 is going to handle this aspect, I see why it doesn't have.

I would like to see a darker environment in the box art. At least this we are sure of.

^As far as I care they can put white paper as cover and write "Mass Effect 3 by EA/Bioware" and I would still buy.

Noooooooo!!! (Said in a Obi-Wan Kenobi stylee as Qui Gon gets saber in the stomach following into a Darth Vader stylee after Palpatine tells him of Padme's death)

It has to be black paper as cover or it's a no buy for me... >:(

"That was a joke!" :P ;)

More on-topic I think it looks poor. Too much 'junk' (in every sense of the word) taking up too much of the cover and whilst I get the idea of the back showing the flipside of it, it's still pointless.

Anyway I doubt I'll care what the cover is as probably won't matter for anyone buying any potential 'Uber Edition' specially if they have some sort of model or something coming with it that means the box it all comes in will be bigger and most likely not have a re-hash of the boxart but something else.

I guess you saw Star Wars cover arts. For movies, games whatever. There are some covers I saw in other threads.

Something like this with Reapers in background and good guys in front and I am happy. It must show that there is big threat.

I'm trying to think of any scene in a movie where the whole screen is almost entirely space... with just a ship, far off into the distance, floating down the centre line, with something like Rachmaninoff playing.

Maybe a picture that captures that kind of spirit?

In short, anything along the lines of the ME1 cover art or the ME2 CE version would be more than fine for me.

Don't like it that much. Reasons:

- Shep's mid-walk pose on the front doesn't look good;
- It implies it's all about Earth;
- According to the back cover the game has multiplayer, which kind of terrifies me.

Both of these could use more of the classical blue and orange harmony or whatever it's called. :happy:

Lots of nice art in this thread. I like the FemShep + Liara box art the best.

I'd like to see one that's more Space Opera-ish.

What really drew me to the ME1 cover was the similarity to the KotOR cover's theme. That was my favorite BioWare game until Mass Effect came along.

except it's a PS3 boxart, which I consider to be the red headed step child of the ME series. Slap it on a PC or even 360 version and it's a thumb-up.

It's not bad for a fan made box art, but I think there are better possibilites out there.

Well, there haven't been quite that many Call of Duty games yet, give them another five to ten years and they might hit that number though.

I'd like to see a cover that was reminiscent to the first two Knights of the Old Republic games. Show everything from the ships, the characters and the worlds, but don't show your character. I know, I know. Everyone <3 the male Shepard, but he never has and never will appeal to me on a cover to a game who's character won't look like that. Showcase the setting, not some other guy's choice of what they think Shepard looks like.
