I agree.  but that's just the psychological nature of things.  the more exposure one has to something, the less they're going to fear it.

Why the assumption that people that don't like Isabella's outfit are afraid of seeing her breasts? Some people simply don't like the idea of her fighting in that outfit, and feel it's more appropriate for a room in an inn.

most sales on DA were for consoles

I've heard this  claim so. many. times.  Almost as if it's common knowledge.

I've yet to see a scintilla of proof to support this claim however.   And an hour long google search produces exactly Zero breakdown of  the reported 3.2 Million total sales of the game.

I posted a link earlier saying of 2.7 million 1.6 million(i think) were sold on consoles, Of course there link for there source is now broken. And i'm sure i'll be able to find new numbers proving this for DA2  once it comes out.

I'd really love  to see the  breakdown numbers from DA:O's sales, if you don't mind.  It would answer a question I've been asking people  for months and months.

And by the way,  as of February of last year total sales of DA:O were    3.2 million.   If the 1.6 million console units number holds steady, then that would constitute exactly half the sales.  And that would change the argument completely, yes?

the 1.6 was for the 2.7

I'll look for a breakdown but it's hard to find for a total and rather than intial release.

FOUND IT AHA!
That wasn't so hard for me after all gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/33505/dragon-age-origins/

By week 10 it had sold 2 mill on 360 alone worldwide.

"722,520 – 14 week sales for PS3" - http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com

"1,480,000 – 14 week sales for Xbox 360" - http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com

"Dragon Age: Origins has shipped 3.2 million copies worldwide since its launch in November 2009." – IGN.com, February 8, 2010

From this, we can say that 14 weeks after DA:O shipped, it sold ~ 2,202,520 units on consoles, and ~997,480 on PC

In 10 weeks, it sold 1,409,527 copies on the XBox worldwide.

Actually according to Gamrreview, PC sales for Dragon age origins in the first 10 weeks of release was.... 0 (that's right. zero sales,)

http://gamrreview.vg...on-age-origins/

I stand corrected. :)  It's not that DA: O  sold better on consoles, it's that it didn't sell at all on PC...  I am sufficiently saddened  by this fact.  And salt  has been added to the wound when I realize that not even my purchase counted

That's because it didn't track PC sales but console sales. However, if you take the total number of sales and then subtract the console sales, you have an approximation of the PC sales.

I don't.  And  anyone here would be naive in the extreme to think that simply putting a long loose-fitting robe on Isabela will be enough to silence the complaints made by the thread starter and people like him/her.    We'd also have to completely flatten her chest and remove all her 'curves",   then we'd have to rewrite  all her lines and scrap every one of them that contains sexually suggestive statements.  Then we'd  have to go into the game and delete all Brothels  (or at least all women in those brothels)

You're being absurd (I think); I'm one of those "people like him/her" and it would be quite enough for me to cover her up better, since, in my opinion, being sexy doesn't have to be about showing off the female form. I'm sure there are plenty of women out there that consider themselves sexy but don't run around with their panties showing all the time.

We weren't at all discussing how a woman feels, were we.  We were discussing how she's portrayed.

Sex sells in games it gives the game a M rating which also sells. I wonder when Bioware will back to there roots and create a hardcore rpg games.

On another standpoint. I am an Artist and developing Photographer. My favorite medium is black and white photo with the female form. I think their is nothing more artistic and beautiful than the female body. The lines, the waves, the flow, the pale skin. You just have to look with different eyes than the media and society mindwashes people with.

I totally agree with you.  Even as a heterosexual female, I love the aesthetic of the female form.  I also prefer looking at portraits of female faces.

I appreciate more what the artists are trying to do now that I've seen Marian, Isabela and Merrill together.  Marian- I love love love her athletic-but-feminine figure.  With isabela, you can see they went for a curvier figure, though kind of top heavy.  Merrill is extremely thin.  I think the two extremes were exaggerated a little too much.  Overall, though, I'm pleased with how the female models have turned out.

I still think Isabela's outfit is ridiculous.  Trashy, sloppy and totally inappropriate for someone doing flips and fast moves, from the constricting necklace to the huge breasts that are barely supported and the panty shots.  It will make it difficult for me to have her in my party, just as it was ultimately too weird to have Miranda running around in her catwoman getup.  It was offensive to the eye, but not because I don't like the female form.  It's just like a visual tic that keeps me from believing what I'm seeing.

Yes I have, and I agree.

Ever had someone try to stab you?  I'm betting you'd want as much protection as you can get.

I'd be fine with Isabela wearing her usual outfit in down time . . .taverns, at home, etc.  I don't mind it as an outfit in general, I'm not offended or bothered by her body or her outfit.

I just think, if someone's going into a situation where several people will be trying to stick sharp objects into your body, they'd want a little protection.

Pirates in the real world didn't wear very much leather, or any other kind of protection. Mostly 'cause they'd sink. So why should a pirate in this fictional 'verse be any different.

This pirate isn't on a ship anymore.  So she won't sink.

And while I hate to bring this up anymore . . .she DID wear armor when we met her in Origins.

Question is how long has she been stuck on land?  I was under the impression that it wasn't that long from when she shipwrecked and when we meet her in game.

Well, the game lasts 10 years.  We don't know how long she's been around when we run into her.  But, if she remains in that outfit for, say, 6 years, well, the whole "she's a pirate and might sink in armor" bit kind of loses its logic.

Except that it doesn't keep track of digital sales, where Dragon Age put some pretty heavy tracks for a few weeks.

Heck, even in the statement that it "shipped" X number of copies, pretty much doesn't count digital sales. As if they didn't matter.

A leotard.

Of course, if Bioware had put Isabela  and her glorious curves in a leotard, this thread would still exist.  And possibly be twice as long.

The only pants that would be good for Backflips would be Tight leather pants,
And people would scream OMG BLACK MIRANDA.

Isabella is a seductress and her outfit reflects her character as do Fenris and merril's lack of shoes due to their elveishnes and Varrics over coat and chest hair due to his street smarts.

Just think, barely seven years ago the idea of comparing a Bioware female character to one from Soul Calibur would have been absurd. Now we should be thankful that they aren't showing as much as Ivy?

So, if you make a rogue Hawke, is he or she going to go pantless?

Oh, and -- overcoat and chest hair = streetsmarts?  Image IPB  nah, let's forget this one . . . .

Tight leather is pretty much the worse thing you can possibly wear for ease of movement. :wizard:
