My god, I want to feel like I'm immersed in a realistic, believable world. Not stuck in some horny 14 year old's imagination.
Sure.. as soon as the male characters and heroes of games are no longer 0% body fat, ultra-ripped body builders with the body of a Greek god. When male heroes look like the average real human male, then I'll insist that female heroes should look like typical average real females too.
'Till then... it's a game... fantasy... escapism... cus.. y'know, real life is dull and monotonous much of the time.

Oh my gooood. Why do people complain about good stuff?
Because Isabela's cleavage will unravel the fabric of the universe, obviously.

Actually, I'm pretty pleased. Only Isabela seems overtly sexualized, and hey--that's the kind of person she is. That's the kind of person she was in DAO, that's the kind of person she is now. What do I care if she has the most gargantuan rack since Ivy Valentine? It's only her.
I'm really, really happy they scaled the breast size down from their previous models. I don't see it as every women being overly sexualized. I mean, yeah, Bethany's showing a lot of cleavage, but Isabela wears no pants, Varric's shirt is half open, and Fenris and Merrill wear no shoes.
Bare ankles? In public? I smell a scandal!

Oh wait that's Varic's chest hair.....
Though double standards are fun they also don''t bother me much when observing most forms of media. People that produce games/movies tend to let reality and feasibility trot behind them on the path.

Anyway I find the fact that genders are being stereotipically sexualized more of a problem. But that's just me and I am in minority.

Maiming? That's cool.
Rape? Go right ahead.
Murder? Yes please.
Slightest bit of skin on a female character? Those sexist pigs! Those chauvinist bastards! How dare they!!! No woman is curvy, is proud of her body, wears revealing clothing or wants to dress how she wants to dress! That never happens in reality! EVARZ! Every woman must not have measurements... of any kind. They must have their skin completely covered, don't they know they should be ashamed of their bodies. Also women abstain from sex entirely, we have the stork for babies thank you very much.
You know sexism is wrong, women sexist against women is horrible. Three female characters are modestly dressed and armored but one means it's overly sexed in it's content. That is wrong. Where is your outrage at Varrics' exposed chest... that v-neck is well beyond the reasonable and allowed one and a half inches don't you think?
It is a pretend world, with pretend people and pretend norms. Accept it or hate it, your choice.

In general, DA games are not really that bad at sexualizing all characters. Yes, there are certain key characters that have hit the sexy branch at full speed - like Morrigan and Isabella. However, the common female models are really not that bad, and strike me as being nicely balanced along the line of sexiness vs. realism - because, let's face it, seeing ugly mugs all over wouldn't be particularly fun either.
Now, I do have a bit of a bone to pick about the male models - as Hathur already mentioned. For instance - suppose I started with a mage. Why was he as ripped as a bodybuilder/warrior? Why can't I make my mage to be flabby, overweight, or skinny, or, well, just plain average? In the mage origin, the body structure actually didn't really make sense as such...
Anway, I wanted to say that the sexualization in DA is not universal, just limited to certain characters. And yes, Isabella's body model is quite ludicrous and unsuited for any active lifestyle beyond that of a pole dancer.. At least not if we're talking a pirate captain / agile fighter. Still, just because she is such doesn't mean the entire game is like that.

Realistically, this is still a man's world. Are you new to the world of video games or something?
Ha thought that too!
I think Isabelas Design is good and individual as it is. Play stuff like Soul Calibur or Dead or Alive, than you will know what it means to sexualize women.
Sounds like a typical American problem in the end to me....

You do understand that IGNORING the fact that it's in a fantasy setting, people in the past or medieval times, or even before, had much much more muscular bodie's than today's average man, most Men (soldiers, fighters, etc) were A LOT more physically stronger?Hathur wrote...

Well not only that but the problem with most people these days is a lack of physical exercise and too much access to food. Back then you had to hunt or work your ass off to be able to barter for food. Either way you were doing someting from the moment you got up until you went to bed. Life was a lot harder in simpler times, it's as basic as that. You did more, ate far less and thus had a more impressive build to show for it.
Plus due to the nature of historical living the food was far more nutritious for you. Add to that all the work I mentioned and you have a spell for one fine build. Though for someone like a Mage who reads, doesn't do much and just goes about like that he would not have the same build. Unless he worked at it. Womens' curves would depend on genetics and if they come from a line of curvy women. Simple as that.

Eh...the food people ate then is just as nutritious as those food items are now, nothing has changed in a mere 500 - 2,000 years. They just didn't have all the artificial, processed crap some people choose to shovel into their faces to the exclusion of REAL food items like vegetables, fruits, grains, quality meats, etc.
