Basic Instinct.

He said a quality movie.

And I gave  one... of many

Of course, if one's definition of "Quality movies"  is limited to Disney classics and such, then  yeah, that could be tough.

Same reason why every man is over sexualized.

This was my first thought.  I blame it on the subtitles I always have on, but somehow I always ended up looking at men's groins.  It was the subtitles fault!  No, really.Image IPB

He's probably complaining about Isabela and Betheny.

Uh, I don't know what to tell you except...Sorry? It's just a part of life I guess, most movies have famous good-looking actors on screen, why would videogames be any different? (Excluding certain games of course).

I have never seen a quality movie where a beautiful woman is as equally dressed as Isabella.

Also if you think of it in terms of her character, do you really think some cold-hearted pirate killer woman is really wearing a mini-skirt that just barely covers her rear and has her double-D's hanging out of her shirt?

I'll admit its not as bad as ME2 with Jack travelling through outer space with just a plastic mask and a bra on.

Why must every male on the internet be such a prudish coward that is terrified of women depicted in anything but a burqa?

Isn't hyperbole great?

One woman in DA2 is shown as a sexual creature. It is a part of her character.

Get over it.

Every male? I don't think we're using the same internet buddy,

Yoner is definetly in the minority with this.

I was mocking the title of the thread with an equally exaggerated (and untrue) statement...

Apparently it didn't work as intended. Image IPB

Ah sorry. I just woke a while ago, and I'm still tired. I didn't really interpret it right.

Merril, Aveline, Cassandra etc. are not overly sexualized. Leliana wasn't overly sexualised, neither was Wynne, nor was Anora, nor was Sigrun. Nor was Shianna, nor was Ser Cauthrien. I don't think Bethany is either but I can see why people would think that.

So basically, this topic is about Morrigan and Isabella, both of whom are sexual characters and so their appearance/clothing choices actually match their personalities. If Wynne was running around dressed like Isabella I would totally understand this topic. As she is not, I think you just whining for the sake of whining.

As much as i don't like myself the exaggerated design of Isabella,it's never good to make a generality when only one character is concerned.

It's only one char'.So it doesn't matter.

To answer the question in thread topic...shut up and enjoy it. Whats wrong with you?. Oh I see, its not the fact that the game takes place in a fantasy setting, with magic, and dragons that takes you out of the experience, its Isabellas boobs???. Yeah, that makes sense.

Maybe because "reality" is so boring? Every character in a medium is stylized and his/her characteristic duly enhanced to express what the creator want the public to receive.

There's nothing wrong with expressing sexuality, it is only akin to some types of cultures to render sexuality a filthy, sinful act and this in turns create repulsion and obsession at the same time. Cultures that treat sex as a fundamental aspect of the being (as the Greek one, especially Dyonisus view, or Hindus etc.) on contrary obtain totally the opposite; sex becomes an holy act. There's no repulsion, nor obsession, it just becomes a form of expression, as everything else.

Characterizing a character is the fundamental aspect of a medium. Nobody cares for a dull, simplicistic and banal approach, even if it is, supposedly, "realistic". Either reality posses the mask of imagination, everything you see and experience is filtered by your personal point of view and stylized accordingly. Real "reality" exists only in an imagination devoid of ambition. Mediocrity usually likes to mask imagination with a parvence of a "common reality", trying vainly to hide its total lack of an individual form of creation.

At least with Morrigan you had a choice to leave her in her default outfit or give her other stuff to wear; that option doesn't currently exist for Isabella (though I expect someone to release a mod to fix that soon after release), so I can fully understand the complaint.

Does Isabella's clothing change in game, maybe she covers up a bit (or adds a little armour) once she is regularly going into battle.

At best she´ll get Miranda´s treatment. More sensible clothing in DLC.

Yes, the complaint is completely understandable. We should be allowed to force our own preconceptions onto our companions and make them cover up exposed flesh.

Well said.
Besides, the thread title is a pure hyperbole, every women doesn't equal one, Isabela.

And in Origins was Morrigan in the Front (By the way, Thanks for that Bioware!!!) . Still I don't see the problem about it and even like it that way, if it bothers so much to some people then just as easy as to change their clothes in their individual gamethroughs or just don't play the game or look past of that and enjoy the battles. There are always options.

Also, I don't how realistic and believable world can one feel in a game about dragons, elves, darkspawn and ogres... I'd say that the last feeling one can expect in this game is being realistic but certainly compelling to play and do immerse in the choices.

Sure.. as soon as the male characters and heroes of games are no longer 0% body fat, ultra-ripped body builders with the body of a Greek god. When male heroes look like the average real human male, then I'll insist that female heroes should look like typical average real females too.

'Till then... it's a game... fantasy... escapism... cus.. y'know, real life is dull and monotonous much of the time.

I expect that people who cut through Darkspawn like butter and kill dragons for a living or hunt werewolves to be signifcantly stronger than your average bodybuilder.

Don't know why you'd want them to physically look like the average human male since for all intents and purposes... they're not.

I don't.  And  anyone here would be naive in the extreme to think that simply putting a long loose-fitting robe on Isabela will be enough to silence the complaints made by the thread starter and people like him/her.    We'd also have to completely flatten her chest and remove all her 'curves",   then we'd have to rewrite  all her lines and scrap every one of them that contains sexually suggestive statements.  Then we'd  have to go into the game and delete all Brothels  (or at least all women in those brothels)

And even then,  they won't stop complaining.  Don't put it past these prudes to *find* something 'symbolic' of female sexualization and  then complain about that... whether it actually exists in the game or whether its simply their overly creative imaginations will be  totally irrelevant at that point.

You're complaining because Isabella is showing off her chest?

Varric shows off his chest just as much.

Why no complaint there?

Not sure why it needs to be a movie. Walk out onto a downtown street on a summer evening and you will see many beautiful women dressed in similar fashion. (And no, I'm not talking about prostitutes)

Many women, including incredibly beautiful ones, are very sexual. They are not constrained by the prudish standards of sixty years ago, and aren't afraid to dress in ways that make them feel sexy.

And really... God bless them for it. Image IPB
