Eh... way too posh. Hopefully it'll grow on me or I just stop noticing it. English accent =/= Eton school girl.

I want to hear renegade FemHawke. She sounded very inquisitive in the videos we saw. I want to see her be stern, angry and cruel.

I'm guessing she'll end up sounding like either of these two sisters..

But I still don't understand why she sounds that posh, as lower class fereldens almost all sounded western English, at least to my ears.  Unless mama Hawke was at some point either a noble woman or an english teacher..

Well english accent. It will just never sound anywhere near 'cool'. I'll get used to it I guess but I would have prefered Jennifer Hale. I know people say she doesn't have to voice everything, but well, in that case it would have been better imo. Or to have femHawke talk in american accent al least.

Are you stupid?...

As I recall, Leandra's family is nobility in Kirkwall.

Well not that stupid that I comment on someone's opinion with 'Are you stupid?'.

Just tune it out.  The voice is neutral enough for that and it's what I plan to do.

From what I've heard, I like Lady Hawke's voice. I like it a lot, it's nice to listen to. I found it was especially fitting since she was a mage. It would even fit a rogue, but in my mind it doesn't fit as well with a warrior. I know full well that a woman does not have to have a voice that isn't as feminine as Lady Hawke's voice sounds in order to hand someone their arse on a proverbial platter, but there it is. I suppose it's just a quirk of mine.

I hope she will do well on the epic speechification sequences that are sure to come.

Apart from the fact that people from Ferelden basically are 'English'...Why would she have an american accent?...

I want her to chide me, to punish me, to tell me I've been a bad, bad little boy.

I just said I prefer american accents, chill ... you don't need to agree with that and especially no need to be rude about it. I like english accents for many things, just not for action heroes.

I just figured out that the way Lady Hawke speaks reminds me of Emma Watson.

Ahh, I just read that on the wiki, the Amells are nobility there.. Well it makes a bit more sense now, although Hawkes mother being the sole overriding influence on how she speaks seems a tad strange..

I suppose I'll just have to wait and see how the story unfolds and what influenced Hawke the most growing up.. maybe they took trips to Kirkwall, or lived there for a time? Hopefully there's a "throw me a bone" story explanation..

The fact of the matter is, she has an English accent for a reason, along with everybody else from that country, they wouldn't just suddenly change it for no good reason other than 'English accents not being good action heroes...' (Which isn't true...)

Keep in mind that, as apostates, they likely tried to limit the children's interaction with other people.   After all, who knows what a young child may blurt out?

That said, it's also reasonable to assume that Mama Hawke had more interaction with the children when they were young, as that was traditionally a female role (please don't attack me about equality here - I'm stating what was traditional for centuries, not my own opinion about how it should be).  As a noble, she may also have been concerned about what she considers "proper speech".

With this in mind, it's not unreasonable to think the children picked up her accent and speech patterns, and perhaps for a young girl, she may have modelled herself after her mother more so than a boy.

Now, we haven't  - I don't think - heard MamaHawke speak yet, so this all goes out the window if her accent significantly differs from FemHawke's.  Image IPB

I really love LadyHawke's voice  :wub::wub::wub:

It is going to be GREAT to play a kicka** warrior that can also be a lady at the end of the day as well.

And why start using American accents now? they've always been English in DA so to change now would be strange.

I'm with you, Lucy- LadyHawke Rocks!!!!  :o:O:wizard::wub:

*happy dance*

True..

I simply hope that it all flows fairly well from a story perspective.. For some reason I have major OCD concerning VO's in games, as many simply throw random VA's at them.. Bioware I have more faith in on that front, as it's their lore and universe, but nontheless it bugs me whenever inconsistancies crop up concerning VA/VO..

Sooo... I threw a name out yesterday, and I'm pretty sure they deleted my post. I'm still new here... Is that normal?
