Lol @ people who won't play male / female characters because of their voice.

I think it's a pretty legitimate complaint.  Certain voices can really grate on your nerves.  I think both male and female Hawke sound pleasant enough, so I don't really understand it in this case, but to each their own, right?

Imagine if FemHawke had Isolde's voice, for example.

Jennifer Hale is a good VA but why she's considered the be-all end-all I'll never know.

Doesn't mean she should voice every character??   Guess I'm just sick of hearing about her.

People like what's for sure and reliable. Hale is reliable, you know you are getting a quality VO if she's doing it. New people, you never know.

Yeah but what if you don't like her or are neutral?  I played ME1 and 2, she was fine, but I'd rather not have every one of my PCs sound the same.

Actually I'd rather not have voiced PC at all, but there it is.

I really love her take on the prize.

Let's have Hale voice 80% of DA2 while we're at.

Her voice is great. I like how it can be soft, playful or inquisitive.

And initially I was not that enthused about the voiced protagonists. But now I am really looking forward to it.

I don't care that she voices tons of crap. So do a lot of voice actors. I have personally met voice actors who have done as many roles as she has. A lot of people have. She isn't the most amazing voice actor on the planet. You are making me resent Hale and Femshep with all this blind defending of her.

Hale voiced female protagonist for BioWare's last game.

You would have rocks in your noggin' if you expected she would voice Hawke. Her english accent is also quite weak. It's not her best accent.

Another very well known voice actress is Grey DeLisle who also has quite a strong fanbase due to her voicing very memorable characters. Did you also expect her to voice Hawke?

Just because Johnny Depp is renowned for his eclectic roles doesn't mean I expect him to be the main character in every off-beat, mainstream film.

Not a huge fan of either of the Hawke's VAs.

FemHawke's VA is overshadowed by Isabella's VA.

Say what you will, Meer and Hale are both authoritative and they stand out.

To be honest, I couldn't care less who plays a voice role.

As long as they're GOOD.

I understand why voice directors would rather go with tried and trusted voice actors/actresses. You're pretty much guaranteed a great performance and they know what they're doing. On top of that, they are popular and people will recognize them and know what said character will sound like(if they find out who voices who beforehand)

But if there's an amateur no-name out there with the perfect voice for a specific character, I'd be giving them direction so they can become one of those widely known voice actors/actresses.

Then again, maybe I'm biased. I'm no voice over director. I'm just a no-name voice actor with all of my proof of work(little bit that there was) either unreachable or destroyed.

Caroline Livingstone knows multitudes more about how to handle voice acting than I do, thus I'd have to believe whatever she'd say.

If I were to audition for a role(which I've been wanting to do yet STILL CAN'T. Damn it all) and she were to tell me I'm flat out horrible, I'd be inclined to believe it. Then I'd try to get better.

If I'm doomed to never land "that role" that secures a good impression on the voice over directors of the World, then aww shucks.

Trying and failing is better than not trying at all. So far, I haven't been able to try.

I plan to correct that.

I don't want the PC to stand out.  Neutral is better.  As for Isabela's, hers and femHawke's sound very much alike to me.

Speaking of mHawke, we were watching a Swedish movie about a knight templar called "Arn", and when one of the guys started yelling I realized it was Nicholas Boulton.  I recognized it then because I had a Vaughn flashback- "I'll have you all flayed!" lol  Good movie, though he plays a bit of a nasty character.

So no one recognizes the VA?  I was trying to put my finger on it from someone in ME.  Maybe she did an American accent in ME.  One of the asari, maybe??

I love Hale but I wouldn't want her to voice FemHawke. I'd like different voice actresses for my protagnists. It would be pretty lame if the main females in both of Bioware's current series were voiced by the same person. Variety is the spice of life.

OT:  Then you should really appreciate Mark Meer's approach for Shepard in Mass Effect 1-2.  Yes, I'm being sincere.
