Nice and feminine. I like it. But I always play as a male. I've never heard male Hawke's voice before. Is there a video of him talking in a casual conversation?

There are plenty. Look at some of the dev diaries. I think the "Story" one (was the latest, unsure if another has come out since I am avoiding all other threads) has a couple of lines. FYI: He seems to be voiced by Nicholas Boulton (Vaughn and Ser Bryant in Origins).

She isn't Anora.....

I read "She isn't Anora"  as "Hawke isn't Anora," personally.

Yeah, that's how I read it as well.

Sorry for making a new thread.

But Lady Hawke is awesome.

I love her voice and how "posh" it is.

Who is the voice actress, by the way?

I don't like it all that much. I find it way too posh for my liking, simply because I want my Lady Hawke to be a tough-as-nails warrior and not quite as refined and delicate as she comes across here. I wish they would choose someone with a more "neutral" tone, because even though your vocal cords don't define you as a person, I'd like for her to have a voice that I, personally, don't associate with "noble".
Also, I don't get the people who are saying that it adds to her femininity. I don't see how a firmer tone would make you any less of a girl. What a boring stereotype.

Thank you.  It seems to me like the voices provided for Hawke will fit a wide variety of human character designs.  Sounds good to me so far.

Emma Fielding is Lady of the Forest who is an important NPC. David said FemHawke's VA didn't do anything we'd know about.

My guess is they changed the actress since the time they told the hint about minor work in DAO and ME. (Lady of the Forest wouldn't really count as minor, anyway).

That would be hilarious, ironic, and turn the OP into some kind of narcisistic self-worship ;):P.

I support this.

The issue is not really that having a firmer tone or a deeper voice makes her "any less of a girl". The issue is really that action heroines, particularly warrior-type women, often fall into a certain a action-girl stereotype and possess what are culturally perceived as (as opposed to actually being) more "masculine" characteristics (such as a deeper voice). Giving Fem!Hawke a more stereotpically feminine tone can challenge certain assumptions (in the industry and in culture in general) that only certain types of women can perform certain roles.

Hmm. Interesting point of view, there. I guess, looking at it like that, one could suggest that the fairly cultured tone of SheHawke's voice is challenging the assumption that tough women must be... well, the only way to phrase it I can think of is 'lower class' - sort of the 'child of the streets' stereotype. I like what I've heard so far... not sure it measures up to femShep, but... well, that's a lot to measure up to, and I've not really heard enough to judge. Not to mention that I mostly hear femShep's paragon lines, and all I've heard from SheHawke so far is the sarky lines, so it's not really directly comparable. The lines in the exagerated portion sounded cheesy... but I suspect that's the point; all larger than life and corny hero stereotypes.

You know, I would too. And I'd literally walk into the recording booth with a look like that, wind blowing and all.

Mrs. Livingstone- "Prince, what the hell are you doing?"

Me- "What? Oh, I'm sorry. I was too busy listening to my hair move, you were saying?"

The way I understood it was that DG meant that her work, aside from gamng VA work, is stuff we'd not be too familiar with. For instance, if she has been in British TV/movies that have not been widely released/seen outside of Britain. But you could be right. Who knows? The mystery lingers......

What do you expect. It is a female you know, actually feminine of a voice? No one wants to hear Lady Barbarian voice from FemHawke, not me at least.

I thought it was the same woman who voiced Leliana in DA:O. it's kinda weird because I associate that voice with Leliana.

The female voice is Jo Wyatt.  She did voices in Fable as well as some minor British stuff.

wicked cool this is. But,...did anyone recognise who the voice actress is. i'm usually good with voices, recognising them from previous games or shows, but this one threw me.

She does the voices for the Mr Men cartoons.

The voice is nice, though I had hoped for someone new. But the voice actor does well enough, I hope there's a line as mage class that says in that voice - "Oh look, I'm unarmed' then throws a fireball 'Well kind of, who's for a roast?'
