Exactly! Sweet face, feminine voice, and the ability to cleave your head in two. It's perfect!

Yep, femhawke follow's Mordin's school about combat (for Salarians in Mass Effect) ... "Never see me coming"

I liked it. The only part that bothered me was how posh she sounded. Especially on the line 'Maybe he needs a new hobby'. I would have expected a girl raised in Backwater, Ferelden to have a slightly rougher accent. Not that I would prefer a full on Yorkshire accent (I lie, I totally would).

But damn if she doesn't have the best sarcastic smirk this side of the Waking Sea.

My one complaint is that it sounds close in timbre and accent to Isabela's. Other than that, I really like it.

It really does. I like it though.

Yeah, it bothers me a little. The conversation between them sounds a little weird, almost like it was only one person talking. I was surprised when I first heard it as I was expecting something similar to femshep but I like itImage IPB

I just hope I'll be able to keep my resolve to play the demo with male Hawke only as I want to associate the female voice with my custom faceImage IPB In ME it feels very strange when I make a different face for a second playthrough as I keep feeling it should be coming from the default Shephard.

To me, she sounds like a bored, aristocratic daughter of some Noble thats never had to get her hands dirty throughout her entire life.

Certainly no champion thats for certain.

Yeap, I agree. The same goes to male Hawke. He did a great job with bann Vaughan and Ser Bryant but IMO he sounds too delicate and aristocratic for Hawke, a refugee who comes from the little village of Lothering. It's a matter of taste though, but for sure, I had a different voice in my mind for the character. I guess it's an expected side effect for having a voiced protagonist in a RPG...

Hawke's mother is aristocratic.

Still, I wanted him to sound different from a human noble of DA:O. Let's say that DA II is the origin of the human commoner which was planned but deleted from DA:O. I don't want to play a v2 Cousland character. The voice is a huge factor to define a character. I don't want to sound like Conan the barbarian, but also I don't want to sound like prince Charles of England. Somewhere in the middle. As I said though, it's a matter of taste.

I agree that male Hawke's voice also carries the same aristocratic bent, but at least his voice carries some weight and authority.  I can't remember which trailer I saw, but he tells his brother,"I'm in charge you do what I say!" or something to that effect, and it sounded very authoratative.

Female Hawke on the other hand sounds like a school girl..

I've only heard a tiny bit of it from the Livestream(I've only seen a few minutes so far -- damn you work), but I liked what I heard. It seems like it will fit a wider range of personalities than maleHawke's voice.

I agree and endorse the OP in it's entirety. Lucy is sayin' it like it is.

Oh and for those few still saying that Hawke shouldn't sound 'posh' - his/her voice isn't that far off my own accent, and I was 'raised in a backwater town'. As others have said, there is also the fact Hawke's mother comes from aristocracy, that should certainly help clear up why Hawke isn't a yokel or something.

In LadyHawke's case, I keep thinking I'm hearing Leliana with a Fereldan accent. It's lovely.

Hellena Taylor?

"Coincidence?"

Linky  to youtube of Alfstanna if anyone with a better ear than I can tell

I got a glance of someone guessing it was the same as Goldanna, in the chat.

I personnally don't think it's either of the above but I could be wrong of course (I believe accents have an influence on a person's voice, which makes it a little tough to tell sometimes).

My first guess was Anora - Mika Simmons - (also Isabella in DA:O) but I'm not really convinced of this possibility, either. Also there's this:

Her Origins voice was Anora.  Same actress.

This
was one of the main reasons for the change. Having Anora do an extra
character with a minor role is okay-- having a major character in a game
sound just like that major character from the previous game wouldn't
do. As it is, the new voice actress has the same accent and roughly the
same sound as Mika Simmons... a little more "kill, ****cat, kill kill"
perhaps, but there you go. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

Following this logic they will most likely not have cast her as femHawke.

Was that a serious comment? If so . She sounds very British.
And I should know being, well, British.

Thanks for the laugh Lucy, glad you're happy. I am too, she sounds awesome.

As for the VO, didn't someone from BioWare state she'd played a part in both DA:O and ME (Or ME2, I forget)?
If so, that should help limit the options to chose from.

Yes, Received Pronunciation, King/Queen's English, Oxford English or BBC English - take your pick :)

Not meant to be taken seriously... but it illustrates the point pretty well:

Nah.  Love Ms. Hale as FemShep but at this point she IS the voice of FemShep for me and to have her do another main character voice so close to all this ME and ME2 playing I have been doing would be Image IPB.

I had seen the suggestion that Belinda Cornish would be the voice of LadyHawke and I was a little worried because she did such an excellent job of making me HATE Goldanna that I only hear 'Goldanna' when I hear her - either as one of the asari on Illium talking about that dangerous chemical or even Rana Thanoptis.  I did not hear 'Goldanna' in LadyHawke's voice so, either way, it's all good (for me).

We agree again. Indeed, the voice actor of male Hawke is very talented and the proof are his (tiny) roles in DA:O. But, when I saw the concept art of male Hawke, watched the CGI trailer and learned about his backstory I didn't expect / imagine to have a voice like this though. Of course this is not Bioware's problem, it's something I don't like. Anyway, it isn't a major issue which is going to stop my interest for the game. There are games with far worse voice acting out there. Bioware is usually A' class in this area.

PS  A voice similar to this    is what I'd like for male Hawke to have. Too late though, I know.

EDIT: And sorry for going off-topic with the male Hawke voice actor.

I love her voice, I especially love the 'maybe he needs a new hobby' bit. She kind of sounds like a mix of Isabella in DA:O and Anora, I love it :D I'm glad she's not butch sounding.

You mean Gwendoline Yeo?  She also voiced Paine in FFX-2... that's actually the only other role I know her from lol.

She doesn't sound like Mika Simmons, at all. She sounds *much* better. I didn't hate Anora's voice, but there was something off at times, and I certainly didn't love DAO Isabela's voice with those weird inflections; she didn't know how to be coy in the slightest. Lady Hawke doesn't sound off at all; she's spot-on with every line I've heard so far. The accents don't sound quite the same to me, and those dulcet tones aren't bordering on strident like Anora's whatsoever. I really don't get the comparison. Maybe it's the pitch combined with the similarity of accents?

I love the voice, though. It's perfect. Distinct enough to make her feel like a real character in the story, but not distinct enough to stand out so much that the player doesn't feel like Hawke is "their character." Perfect casting choices, IMO.

I have to agree, but I wasn't sure about it. When femHawke's voice pitch gets very high it sounds like a non-annoying Anora IMO.

I'm currently going through the IMDB pages of DA:O and ME2 to see what I can find. So far it seems like no speculation has been right as of yet.

Honestly...you can flay me for saying it....but Lady Hawke sounds like a school girl who should be on a playground playing hopscotch. Given her default face and her position as a "pwns everything" Champion. I expected a voice that sounded a whole lot more athoritive. She sounds far too girly and innocent imo. But I also understand Lady Hawke is designed for female gamers and they want a delicate flower whos strong on the inside...I guess I'll just be sticking to the male character more than useual is all. Because I just can't take Lady Hawke seriously with those feminine idle motions and that schoolgirl voice.

Hmmm, not sure what you are saying.  Gwendoline Yeo was the voice of Sha'ira/Shiala/Captain Wasea/Additional Voices in ME/ME2, and I am not sure I would recognize that one.  Are you saying that's the voice of LadyHawke?  I admit I may have missed some consensus point the forums may have reached.
