They're no doubt thinking of the breathy elves from the LOTR movies and other places.  *gag*  Whereas real Tolkien elves were badass and masculine.

So Fenris' voice both met and exceeded my expectations.

That aside, his voice makes me think of Final Fantasy. And yeah I saw all the messages saying his voice actor did Balthier's character, but I didn't play beyond fifteen minutes of FFXII. Curious.

Oh good.  I was afraid that with Alistair moving into the history books, we wouldn't get people asking "what do women see in him?!!" anymore.  I'm so relieved.  LOL

Yeah, I just find it weird as we have already had elves with deep voices in DA:O, so fussing Fenris' is too deep just strikes me as bizarre.

Well there isn't anything indicative of gender under people's names, but it would appear that most of the implied females on this thread like his voice, hence my curiosity. But maybe this is one place on the world-wide "interwebs" where people don't go trudging around subjects they dislike (unlike Youtube).

That's what I thought too. He doesn't sound nice, not that anything in his background should indicate why he should be, I'm just wondering if he is perhaps the so called "dick" Chris talked about. He might turn out difficult to deal with but I welcome the challenge .

Go to the Varric fanthread, or the Sebastian fan thread.  I'm pretty sure you'll hear fangirls there as well liking the VA and the character as well as wanting them to be romanceable.

Is it the appeal of the voice you're confused about, or of his appearance or character generally?

The voice- it's deep, smoky, a bit sultry.  Confident.

His appearance- well I have to admit the white hair and tattoos didn't appeal to me initially, and I still prefer a more muscled frame.  But he's got soulful eyes.  He's tall, which is a plus in my book.  Strong nose.

That's just my .02.  And probably doesn't really satisfy if you're confused.  We could go pages and pages explaining Alistair's appeal and some people just didn't get it.  Men just need to sit down and take notes from Gaider's playbook.

Sorry I snarked at you.  You hang around the forums too much and you get jaded. 

I do think the white hair and tattoos appealed to other people.  It's an exotic look.  It reminded me of anime and I'm twitchy about gimmick stuff, so my initial impression was more .  They have a story purpose, though.
