Hi, i will try as much as possible to explain what happens. I'm form Spain and my english level is not very advanced so, be tolerant with some english bad spelling phrases that surely i will make.

 1.  It’s important to identify which product is experiencing the problem.

It's the PC version pursached it by Steam at last chrismas.

2.  System Details

  DELL laptop XPS16 with
  Intel® Core™ i7 CPU       Q 720  @ 1.60GHz x4
  RAM 4GB
ATI Movility Radeon HD 4670 (1GB)
  Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
  DirecX 10.0

3.  Problem Details

Last Crhismas i bought de ME1 and instalet perfectly. it worked and i played several hours. But, i formated the PC few weeks ago and now affter instaling it when I launch it doesent run, i mean, it apears by a few seconds in proceses but it disapears in a few seconds. Doesent appear any error window or nothing like that. I tried to reinstal it, but the problem is still there. I tried to launch it from the folder of Steam, with admin permisions but nothing. The only thing that works is the MassEffectLancher.exe that let me see configuration of the game but when i press play it doesent work.

I have too the DAO pursached this chrismas too with all DLC's i havent instaled it yet after the format. (It worked perfectly too the last time)

I searched this issue around the web and i tried googleling it but nothing...

I would be gratefully if someone could help me solving the problem. ^_^

thanks a lot!

If you need aditional info, ask for it ;)

Did you update your graphics card drivers after you formatted?

It's a windows 7 and steam thing as far as I can tell, I can't find a way around it.

I think it is windows 7. Do you guys have the 64 bit edition or 32 bit edition? Because I have the 64 bit one and that might be a problem.

Shut down Steam, then right click on the Steam icon and select "Run as Administrator". You should now be able to launch Mass Effect.

Reason: The Steam version of Mass Effect runs into a conflict with UAC(User Account Control). Running Steam as Administrator ignores UAC.

Did you use the import facility in the ME2 configuration utility, or just copy/paste?

ME2 will only import savegames that have the "completed" flag in them, and they have a different naming convention to the normal saves.

The normal ME1 saves look something like this;

Fenrir00_QuickSave.MassEffectSave

Ones with the completed flag look like this:

Char_01-60-2-1-2-6-6-2010-25-54.MassEffectSave
