Do as if you were going to buy DLC for ME2, without having points to.

I've read the common issues sticky thread and it mentioned something about how the bioware store checks the Bioware account, the EA account and the IP address to see if your location is consistent. Both my EA and Bioware account puts me in the UK, but I am now living in Malaysia. It's annoying really that they should block me from buying products just because I am living in another country.

Yes it's listed as a common problem but that thread fails to put forwards a solution. It's annoying and I am reluctant to make a new thread because of how well known the terrible customer service EA and Bioware are.

I am willing to give my money and I am willing to put forwards the effort to fix the thing so that I can get my DLC product legitimately. If Bioware is not interested, then I may be forced to torrent the DLC and crack it myself. Don't say that I didn't give Bioware a chance. I have given them 4 weeks, messages, multiple attempts at trying to give them my money, which has all not worked.

Edit: UPDATE:

And now it worked o.O Okay, I might have narrowed it down a bit, maybe this helps other people too.
The 'Add bioware points' optionon the forum sends me to the DA2-themed bioware point website; all purchases from that failed.
Now, I tried (idk why, to be honest, just desperation maybe) to buy dlc for mass effect 2 (namely, shadown broker, which I didn't have yet); and the transaction page rightfully said I didn't have enough pts on my balance. Now, I clicked the 'purchase bioware points' right from the transaction page, and got sent to the ME2-skinned point purchase page. And lo and behold, the paypal option went through! and without any issues either..

So maybe this helps for other folks too - maybe there is an issue with the DA2-skinned version of the site, or maybe you need to buy the points when trying to get dlc, and not just generally... Or maybe someone behind the scenes noticed my post, heh, who knows.

Either way, I'm happy now :wizard:

oh my god it worked!  :o you are awesome! thanks to you i'll be able to play Arrival

you are not alone. i moved to hong kong a month ago. i even had to open up a new paypal account because of the country. otherwise i was not even able to buy from steam. just the funny thing is, once i have my new account, steam dint make any problems and i could buy my self the game i want. just here it simply doesnt want to work.
and i still cant understand why it cant accept my visa or master card. now this should really not matter in which country you live.
seriously bioware, what is the damn problem???

I was having a tremendous headache trying to purchase ME2 Arrival DLC with PayPal Account, up until I tried buying Bioware Points with Credit Card Option, i.e. credit card information directly into the order form.

It worked just fine.

Maybe this could help anybody having the same problem.

Cheers!

DLC is out and i still cant buy it. still the same error with paypal. visa and master card still come with CSC is invalid.
i can ask my fiancee if she might give her card for a try, only she doesn't trust to give her card number over the net. not that i blame her.
the funny thing is, when i want to pay with paypal, it sees that my address is in hong kong, so it changes it to HKD and removes the 800 points which is in USD. but still the same error as before.

I had the same problem but some months ago I was able to buy BW points with PayPal just fine. Today I tried adding points with PayPal and I got the same error everybody es getting, then I tried adding my CC and it worked that way so I couldn't try using the site with the ME2 skin.
Unfortunately I got charged $1 in addition to the cost of the BW points, I think it is an "authorization charge" but I don't know if they will ever refund it.

Same problem here. When I try to buy points with PayPal it says "An error has occurred. Please try again later." When I try to buy via CC (VISA), the system complain about an invalid CSC (just like with Metalrocks), even though I checked all the data multiple times.
So far, it seems my PayPal account hasn't been charged with anything. PayPal worked fine at the end of last November. In the meantime I have relocated from Germany to Switzerland, so I don't know whether this is a problem, but seeing how many other people are having trouble I doubt this is the real issue.

Edit: Also , neither the DA2-skinned nor the ME2-skinned work. Just forgot to mention that.

When attempting to buy points through the Mass Effect 2 screen, I get the error message: "CSC is invalid."

When attempting to buy points through the Dragon Age screen, I get the error message: "We cannot charge that card - please load another."

When attempting to buy points by using my paypal account, paypal refuses to connect to EA.

I have checked and verified that my card is OK, and all information is filled in correctly.

I am at my wits end. And for the record, I categorically refuse paying twice as much for the points through the EA store.

I never had any problems buying content with the old system on social.bioware.com - why did you change it? I suggest you fix this, it's not smart to make it that difficult for people who want to give you money.

Well, maybe it's not so bad - most reviews I've seen called this DLC "mediocre" and "****ty".

Had the same problem here. Tried using the live support, the guy just asked me to clear my browser cache and windows temp files, and to disable antivirus and firewall. Obviously it didn't work. Then he told me to try again later (ha!) or use a credit card instead of Paypal and that's what I did.

i dint read every single comment here but it seams that most of the people and as for my self, have problems to pay who moved in to a different country.
i am just wondering if it would work if you use a visa or master card form the country it self. my cards are still from australia and not from hong kong. if my fiancee permits me to use her visa card and it works, then there must be some blockage on the net (or at least on the bioware site) for payments for using a card in a different country. in case of theft i guess.

steam dint allow me to use my paypal account because it detected that i am in a different country. so i had to close down my previous paypal account with my australian address and reopen an account and select hong kong as my living country. then steam had no problems and i was able to purchase my game. but i still used my australian card in paypal. so either steam is not as fussy or bioware has simply a huge problem and is not able to solve it. but i do hope it will be fixed soon.

this is just my thoughts to this matter. but i guess you understand what i am trying to say.

That could be one of the causes, but I'm still living in the same country since I was born and last time I bought Bioware points, four to five months ago, it went just fine using PayPal.
Then again I live in Brazil, so maybe we could say the problem only happens to non-US residents (or wherever BW Store servers are located)?

i also had no problems when the LoTSB (and that was 4 month ago, i think) came out and i used paypal. but i lived in australia in that time.
so if that problem really exists only to people around the world but not in the US, then they really have to fix this quickly. i have read here that bioware changed something with the payments few month ago. so if that is the case, they surely chose a bad one. im just surprised they dint switch back to the old one which worked for every one. i mean, this has already 5 pages and so many have problems. i mean, usually when the money is not comeing in, they fix this kind of stuff quickly.

I was getting this problem when trying to buy points using my credit card on BioWare's points site and getting the error in processing message. Went over to the EA Store and bought my points without a hitch. Got all the DLCs I wanted, plus there was no tax on the EA Store unlike the BioWare Store :D

Whats the best way to contact Bioware, or EA, or whoever's support?
I'm getting the exact same error as everyone else it seems. I'm using a prepaid visa card and none of the various methods work.  However over the past few days, after each attempt I've been getting a dollar added to my pending transaction... These have not gone away, and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting ripped off.

By the way other then the "make more money excuse with points" reason, why is this DLC not available via Steam? (my card works with no problem there!)  But seriously Bioware it's not good to make your customers jump all over the place for DLC and even worse to make them feel like they're being ripped off. This is why people resort to Piracy.  Ease of use encourages purchasing your content and will make you more money and keep your PR in good standings.

great. after so many fails to buy points over bioware, i was finally able to buy it from EA store. not that i really want too but this at least worked and i am now installing the DLC. unfortunately i had to pay with my card because paypal was not a option. so i guess you people have to buy it from EA. at least this works.

Yes but EA store does not sell the lower points right?
This better not be some ploy by Bioware and EA to get us to spend more money :(

dont know. i was after 800 points and this they have. it sure costed more but well, at least i got it. its not like you buy every week or so from them.
i hope the same too that these 2 companies dont try to to rip off there customers. i was not happy to buy the points from EA, but i pretty much dint had a different choice since paypal dint work at all on the bioware site, so as visa and master card.
i payed 80HKD (thats abit over 10AUD). so few $ more then on bioware.
