Unlike most of these, this one could be a box art.

Others don't work because:
-They have specific squaddies that could die during the SM and not the rest
-Don't have an epic feel
-Are focused on a specific gender (FemShep or ManShep). The only reason you see Sheploo in the box art is because Bioware paid money to use that face.

+1

Screw the actal game box art, this thread is fatastic.:ODamn, you sure thats not the one actually planed for ME3.Looks fantastic.

Can anyone create a cover of MShep with EVA (Metal Gear Solid) and a cover of FemShep with Master Chief (Halo)?

I feel this one to be the best.

The only reason being most of the other good ones feature characters whom may or may not be in the game and just a pic of Shepard is too generic for me.

This isn't great because it's not in space, but if most of the game is gonna be on Earth, this is perfect, since it shows Shepard walking through the destruction left behind by the Reapers, trying to find some way to battle the pure enormity of the threat.

I would request something more like ME2's collector edition that Halo 3s... both were metal tins, but one was flimsy and scratched disks, and one was amazing with excellent art. heck, even the game disks were unique! DS2 just stuck a normal copy in with a cardboard exterior. However, you have never let me down before... my favorite style tends to be more minimalist, like the ME2 CE, but the wreckage one is impressive as is the ME3 trailer image... great thread people

I like the one where Shepherd is heading towards the city surrounded by wreckage, very original and gives a sense of epicness.  The ones with a collage of characters aren't really original.

These are my favourites. And those female alien concepts will haunt my nightmares.

I WANT A METAL TIN.

Seriously any special edition needs a metal tin. Everything is better with cold steel.

I hate them, the steelbook covers for Resident Evil 5 and Halo Wars broke my discs. I could live without those games, but still.

There's some amazing stuff here guys, seriously. Some of it is stunning. I particularly like the really clean N7 stuff for a CE for example.

It's super challenging to do box art that appeals to both the core fans and to potential new fans (we really do have to try to get more people into the franchise, that's our job). So for ME2, I know the regular edition art was pretty polarizing, but the N7 CE (made for the core fans) was very popular :)

one thing the excercise in this thread shows: ME3 is many things to many people, so it will be hard to hit the sweet spot....

Did anyone like the regular box art? I don't see how funny looking people with guns would appeal to potential new fans. Obviously the clean N7 box art won't mean anything to non-fans, but I don't see why you have to go in the complete opposite direction.

First of all, WOW! I am always astounded how people can come up with such great stuff.

I am all for that. Make a fancy colorful cover for the regular edition on the shelves and give us (the hardcore fans) an amazing unusual collector/ N7 edition.

I also really like the idea of the clean N7 cover art. For ME2 we had the rather dirty N7 edition (which fitted well). Now for ME3, we need some contrast and the sleek and clean art design that is so abundend in the ME universe calls for a very minimalistic but stylish cover art IMO.

cr to mongerty for the de-texted GI image, and xsas7 for the ME3 logo.

edit: if i had any screenshots or more info i would have redesigned the back, mad the text smaller and put the screenshots in, attractively arranged.
