This.
Most fans don't care about the romances.
I think the fans care a little more than you think. Hasn't Bioware had romances in just about every one of their games? Has to be a reason for that.

Demon on man loving? Sounds deadly
You make a good point, but I just can't see the guy with a demon possessing him(like Wynne so he's technically undead) and that his personality maybe way different than in Awakening. We've only seen one shot of him, but last I checked, Anders in Awakening was not that heroic.
Really? If you let him go, he comes back to help you fight darkspawn on his own volition. If you don’t let him go he helps you rid the keep of darkspawn and actively tells people to run for it and save themselves. In the Wending Woods, he wants to go find Velanna, who is dangerous and insane (my opinion) and stop her from hurting anyone else. He didn’t seem un-heroic to me.
But did he do it in ways that involved no jokes, snide/sarcstic comments or Ser pounce-alot references? Because in that clip of him in DA2, he did not act like the Anders I knew.(Not trying to sound rude lol, I haven't played DOA entirely so my expeiriences with him are limited, but as far as I know there's few moments where he's not his typical, mocking self)

When he turned up at the keep to help with the darkspawn after I let him go, he was funny. Telling others to run for their lives, he was serious and in the Wending Woods when he found out Velanna was killing innocent people, he wasn’t funny either. He was sort of horrified, but yes, he was serious in his response. I think--I could be mistaken though--if he is with you when deciding to spare Amaranthine or not, he has a seriousness to him, as well.

The point is to make them laugh WITH you instead of AT you.
Although, you slaving away as a harmless comic kitten laughterbox will only grant you the prize of the sexless friend zone...
Think I'll go for Rivalry with Isabella the first time around.

I stand corrected then. Either way, him being held alive by a Demon of Vengeance must've altered him somehow. It was born from his contempt of the Templars when Justice possessed him.
Oh, I agree. He had a lot of animosity towards them, sometimes when you spoke with him about it, he had a sneering attitude, so no doubt he has changed. I still think he could be a LI though, I believe it all could be tied in with the main story. Whether that romance has a happy ending or not--who knows.

Back to topic: I really, really hope Sabastian is a romance option, though I doubt it. My guess is Varric is out.

Well, it's pretty common to hear that women fall for the guys who make them laugh, so maybe that's that? Alistair gets noted for his snarky humour, too.Sjofn wrote...
Anders was a giant selfish baby in Awakenings, yeah. I've never, ever understood why women were attracted to him, because he's just so ... lame. I thought he was funny and he was a good friend to my wardens, but sooooo not attractive in the least.
I adored Alistair. I thought he was funny. But there was more to him than that. I loved Zevran. I thought he was funny. But there was more to him than that. Hell, I love my husband to pieces, he's one of the funniest men I know. But there's more to him than that. I liked Anders as a companion. I thought he was funny, but there was more to him than that. And that "more" was not ... attractive.
Cowards don't do it for me, I guess, even funny ones.

Sounds like a good chick project. Take a guy driven by unstoppable addictions/demonic possession and try your best to engineer him into something sexy, yet completely safe.
What could possibly go wrong?

I just think he is too much. A staple character, but as an interweaver. And because I want Anders and Fenris.

Wow, you have figured this chick out, for sure! It’s the reason I wished he would have been a LI in Awakenings, too. (if that game had LI’s). I foresaw the future and knew at once I wanted to take his injured soul into my nurturing womanly hands and meld him into a woundless baby bird. Bravo, sir. Bravo! *slowly claps*

Hmm Anders didn't make me feel like he's a coward, personally. I'd guess this could be case for some others, too, and so they'd perhaps find that "more" of his more attractive.Sjofn wrote...

That said, i felt rather ambivalent about Anders -- even if he'd spin it as part of the humorous nature, there's that undercurrent of entitlement / resentment that didn't sit too well with me. Seeing how things turned out in DA2, i guess that was actually intentional.

You've a half-decent point there actually.
Anders will turn out to be quite the ladykiller I think.

Personally, I can't stand the idea of 'fixing' a partner in real life. I like fully-actualised, complete, confident partners with hopes, dreams and ambitions of their own, who don't cling, get jealous or overreact, but... this isn't real life. This is a story, and stories need drama.
Happy, well-adjusted relationships don't provide much of that, not in the angsty, pulling-my-heart-out-of-my-chest way that drama demands, and therefore aren't widely used. How many television shows end after a couple gets married? How many marriages last a single season before someone has an affair or dies? Some, certainly, but not the overwhelming majority.
There's also the whole point of games providing a safe place where people can explore relationships with dangerous partners without the chance of being hurt in reality, but, well, I'm kind of headed off-topic at a rapid pace.
