Hmm Anders didn't make me feel like he's a coward, personally. I'd guess this could be case for some others, too, and so they'd perhaps find that "more" of his more attractive.

That said, i felt rather ambivalent about Anders -- even if he'd spin it as part of the humorous nature, there's that undercurrent of entitlement / resentment that didn't sit too well with me. Seeing how things turned out in DA2, i guess that was actually intentional.

It was probably all his fussing about how what we're doing is dangerous and man he hates being in dangerous situations and he always struck me as afraid of not just dying but any sort of hardship. Justice basically calls him out on this in some of his banters (basically saying if he thinks mages are so oppressed, why doesn't he DO anything about it, and Anders handwaving it away saying he's too busy looking out for Number One to worry about other mages) (waaaaah, poor Justice! ).

That could be taken more to mean that he's just incredibly selfish rather than cowardly, I suppose. I'm looking forward to seeing how he's changed.

Granted, I haven't played Awakening, so I don't know all of his dialogues.. I definitely got the vibe that Anders was a coward. But a loyal coward, at least. I actually kind of liked that flaw about him, I thought it made him more interesting. But then I had a semi-crush on Jowan, so spinelessness doesn't really bother me.

I think the fact that he kept fighting in spite of his reservations says something about him. I also think whether I would prefer it or not, that's a trait he's going to end up phasing out with the new changes to his character.

I don't see Varric being a bisexual LI. I don't know maybe it's me. Anders? hmmm....maybe? I guess although for some reason I see Fenris being that more, I could see that not happening since we have already had a bi elf~

Yeah, he was definitely a loyal coward. He even expresses surprise at himself for actually wanting to go on the dangerous end of game mission, and I was sort of touched by the gesture. So he grows and it's nice but ... he still got sentenced to the dreaded Friend Zone for me. 

Bear in mind Nathaniel Howe ALSO didn't do it for me, and he has a slew of fans too, so maybe I just have a finding-certain-dudes-hot deficency! (I am not so dificient I didn't wuvvum Alistair, Zevran and Gorim though.)

Naw, takes an arrow to the throat while killing hundreds of darkspawn at his worst. As loyal he just mows them down, only to pass out from a post-battle drinking contest. Full use of limb and land gained afterwards.

He's not so much a coward that he'll turn tail and run in the middle of battle, I think. But he is a degree of cowardly at least. He doesn't even deny it when Oghren calls him one, and before Justice egged him on he was reluctant to do anything for his fellow mages.

Honestly, very few people in this world are the type to look at danger and go 'Sure, let's go and rush into it!'. Self-preservation is a natural instinct. Due to the nature of RPGs, most of your party is in this small percentage of people who laugh in the face of danger, but it's hardly realistic. Anders is more commendable to me because he acknowledges he doesn't want to do these things but when push comes to shove, he does them any way because he's a good person. It's not the man who fights without fear that is brave, it's the man who is afraid and fights in spite of that fear.

Hoping this aspect of him doesn't change in DA2, personally.

 I think Anders/Justice(Vengence) will be romancable, Bioware did say that you could have rival "I hate you so much but I love you!" sex. So with that in mind...yeah I bet he's LI, like with all the chantry and circle conflict going on
there are sure to be fights between you and him them. 

(he better be or my heart will be broken X'( I loved him in Awakening but I had to remind myself that I was a married woman, but it's not like he was a LI in that game but this game gives me a chance)

I have to admit the only thing that could top the uncomfortable sex scenes Bioware does, is making them * I hate you so much I want to have angry sex with you*. By uncomfortable I mean mechanical, not that I don't mind a good sex scene in a game or a movie.

Please don't take this wrong, I love Biowares games, I could just do with out some of the features, or leave them implied in this case.

So just because males only have the two romanable characters is it confirmed that there's only two per gender? Maybe bioware will surprise everyone with all three main males as LIs.

But I think if one has to go it'll be Anders. Varric as a dwarf is something new in the romance line and ferns screams fangirl/boy LI.

anders is kind of ambo(mination) now but from what ive seen theyve made his character sexily vulnreable and vulnreable sells.so i think anders is romanceable.i dont know why but biowares tendency to break the stereos will result in varick being the gay/bi love interest which i think is idiotic(cmon you all want you lis to be sexy and a short chesthairball is simply not smexy just own up to it)..which leaves the rest unromanceable.about women izzy is confirmed(me likes) and merill was semi confirmed(if say when you meet her merill is 20 she will be 30 by the end of the game which makes her romance rly interesting as,hopefully she will grow to look more like a woman and less like a 12 year old)

You're treading thin ground there with some people.    I'm not one of them, but just sayin'.

Everyone's expectations are high for one character or the other, we'll all come up with a million reasons why so-and-so is/isn't romanceable.  Then Bioware will announce the LIs and we'll all go "Oh, well I agree/disagree with that" and cheer/kvetch after that, but still unable to do anything.

This thread just screams for flaming back and forth.  How do I know this?  *hides singed hands* I don't know...

Oh, I have definitely considered.

I'm remaining cautiously hopeful. I don't believe that just because he's DLC that he can't be an LI, but according to the wiki he's sworn to priesthood. That could be... problematic.

He is DLC.
That doesn't mean he for sure won't be romanceable. But I would say it makes it less likely. I would also say that people disliking that they lose out on a full romance option (particularly for female Haweke) because they don't have DLC, would be justified.
