Awakening did not even have romances, so that does not count in this! I imagine if the game had been longer, Nathaniel and Anders would have definitely been love interests.

Oh and everything is speculation, until Bioware confirms things or definite proof appears.

To be honest, I think people here
put waaaaaay too much emphasis on whether a character is a romance
character or not.

Tell me about it. I do not know whether to enjoy the massive disappointment or go with it, when something gets confirmed.

I disagree. I know that for me, and probably a lot of other people, romances are the most rewarding plot threads in a game/book/movie. Of COURSE, there need be many MORE plotlines... but romances still end up being aome of the most meaningful relationships between characters.

I have played several rpg games without romances and they just aren't the same as a rpg with a good to great romance.

That is extremely true.  To be a truly great RPG you have to be able to do the two basic things that make any adventure great, save the world and get the girl.  If you can only do half of that, it's only half as good a game.  That's why so many Bioware games have been great, they get those basics right more often than anybody else I can think of, and no doubt DA2 will continue that legacy of awesomeness.

It was this.
I dislike being the hopeful and naive fan, but when was the last time there was a blatantly attractive man, like Sebastian, in a Bioware game, who was not a love interest?

Oh, someone will probably remind me of a few.

Sten.

He was a REAL man. Authority and directness. Oh sten....

Yoshimo, Hae'dalis, Edwin, Tomi (if you're cool with romancing shorter dudes), WREX (obviously every female shep needed dat ass), Joker (for some.......)

There were a lot that had a lot of fanbase to back them up.

The only one that I ever wished actually shipped with a canon romance was Haer'Dalis.

Also : I don't think Anders will be romanceable.

I dunno some characters have amazing friendship paths that are even better than romances IMO. (Wrex allistar Sten)

The only time i fall head over heels for a romance path is when it intersects with main story like allistar and morrigans.

Varric. Anders is the only male human party member aside from Sebastian (who is DLC, and DLC characters are usually not LIs), and you know Fenris simply must be a romance option (I'd be very, very surprised if he wasn't).

Wasn't too surprised with Aveline not being an LI, because Isabela was already confirmed and the fans need their elven girl romance (Merrill).

Anders.

Anders will probably be too busy trying to undermine the Chantry and dealing with his demons (literally). Varric can take his spot on the LI list.

There always has to be one human LI. Anders is the only one who can fill that role, thus he is extremely likely to be romancable.

True that. Plus in games where the protagonist already has a set LI, it's just frustrating.

Case in point: I tried playing Final Fantasy 8 again a while back and I hated the entire and forcefed Squall/Rinoa romance. That entire thing was as ****ed up and as unhealthy as Edward and Bella in 'Twilight' and it reminded me why I dislike having a romantic option/plot forced on me without having some say on it.

I like being able to choose who my protagonist decides to romance (or not romance at all), thanks.

While they are quite the lookers one way or another, they are not something that I would call conventionally attractive. That was what I had in mind, even though I loathe talking about it in general.

Anders&Justice. Mainly because. . .it's Anders&Justice.

I may change my mind on this if he they are LIs, depending on how it's presented, but for now, no. I'm not that open minded.

Not even Anders and Justice anymore! ;) Anders and Vengeance, a one-track minded demon living within the guy. Somehow that doesn't really strike me as bow chicka material.

What? Having a broken man with a tragic past squirming beneath my thumb is totally sexy.

Yeah, the bits that aren't consumed by a demon living within him and taking over his body whenever he happens to think it's best.

Dhiro, you are one kinky little boy. I like you. In a cute-puppy-who-just-bit-someone sort of way.

But--Justice! My spirit BFF! There's gotta be hope, right? D:

Though that's a very good point. Especially considering Hepler's hints that eventually he won't be able to focus on anything but the mage/chantry issue, which appears to be heating up in DA2.
Once you've set out to destroy the state religion and it's militant organization, I imagine it's difficult to find time for much else.

Speaking as someone who loves Justice, I really do hope we can help him, but I feel like it'll be at the end of the game and only for certain endgames. Perhaps one where the Chantry is destroyed and Vengeance is "served." Which would upset me, as I'm primed to side with the Chantry for the most part. Sigh.

But I do think Justice/Vengeance's concentration (especially after reading what Hepler said) might come into direct confrontation with the ability to romance him.
