next time i'll think thrice before buying another ea or bioware game.

I didnt pay to be beta testing this.

they clearly pushed the release for the holidays.

I hope they enjoy my money because next time they wont get it as easy from me.

Oh, this is so frustrating and I do appreciate everyones input but when I took my PC in to the shop the number one concern was possible bad RAM, this was the first thing they checked, in fact the PC spent an entire day going through a battery of tests. The diagnosis found nothing wrong at all with any of my hardware. I hardly think from that time, a few months ago, to the present that my RAM has now got issues.

It sounds like you got a defective DVD.

Did you try using the EA Download manager to link the game to you EA account, then download it and install it? I'm pretty sure my disc is defective, and am actually in the process of trying this now. It's installing, and already passed the point where I was getting what I think was the same type of data errors you are describing.

I'm not sure where I got the EA Download Manager from (probably installed with Spore), but I bet you can get it off their website or something.

Using it, you can download then install the game. Give it a try. Seems to have solved my issues with installation. I'll finally be able to play the thing!

Loldor, I tried getting the game files using the EA dowload manager, it allowed me to use the same CD key code but the installation still hangs right at the same point it did on the DVD. That eliminates the faulty DVD theory. Something in my computer doesn't agree with the installer program for some reason. Mass Effect used the same installer program and I had the same problems with it. In either case EA support has been invisible. I have updated my Dragon Age support ticket several times and I haven't even got a single response. What am I to think?

You are to think that tyhey don't give a **** about their customers.

Of the numerous and serious issues people have on this forum NONE have been solved bi Bioweare or EA.

The community is managing a heavy load when it comes to covering for the misstakes made in developing the product.

I really wanted to buy this game as early as possible to support Bioware and their otherwise nice games. This proved to be a misstake and perhaps one should wait for the game to show up in the bargain bin next time.

lambo - have you tried the semi-manual fix I suggested elsewhere?

Ok I talk to someone over live chat but they weren't very helpful. They told me to redownload the game from the EA store after flushing out the cache in the downloader program. They said my download was corrupted. I wasn't willing to waste another 5 hours (EA has some crappy servers) to redownload the game and get the same results.

i had a corrupted download from Direct2Drive also, i had to redownload ultimately. only took me an hour and a half, but then again, i'm also on FiOS.

All I know is when C&C4 is released that I'm not buying it from EA but from a third party like Steam or Direct2Drive, if there is anything I have learned from all this bs I have gone through with this game and Mass Effect. I cannot risk running into this same crappy installer again for a third time.

I think the thing you are failing to understand is that it wont matter what retailer you purchase the game from. EA is still the publisher for BW. So you will still have to deal with EA's craptastic service no mater where you buy the game from. Or what format it happens to be in, digiatal or disc verion. Services like Steam and D2D are just retailers, they cant help you with issues like you are having.

Not true how do you explain that when I bought Mass Effect off of Steam recently the game used an entirely different installation method which worked flawlessly. I had the game up and running in no time and played it for several hours without any problems. The problem I originally had with Mass Effect when it was released by EA for the PC (bought the DVD version) was another issue pertaining to the installation when I kept running into saferun errors. Now with Dragon Age that has been replaced with data errors. Just like with ME if I had been smart and bought Dragon Age off of Steam I would most likely be playing and enjoying heck out of the game like everyone else is.

I think the reason the games work off of Steam is because they don't use copy protection. The games purchase is linked to your account and Steam has to be running whenever you play one of the their games. I'm almost certain the copy protection that EA is using is the cause for my installation problems.

Both Steam and Direct2Drive have a sale on the game till the end of the month. For $40 you can pick up the game from either place. I decided to break down and buy it off of Steam even though I own the 360 version, the PC one is far superior in more ways than just the graphics. Well just as I suspected the Steam version installed without a single issue and runs fine so far. My conclusion, EA's installer must use some copy protection that is missing in the Steam version. It's the only reason I can think of. I'm just glad I can play the PC version, no help from EA Support, what a useless waste of people.
