I am creating a save file to import into DA II when it comes out and was wondering if it is worth it to play through the Awakening expansion or if those events will not affect the story in DA II, just the events from DA:O.  Does anyone know the answer to this question?  Thanks

Awakening's decision will affect DA2.

As far as I know both Origins and Awakenings have an affect on DA2. Also some DLC if I'm not mistaken.

Same here but do it in this order if you have Golems of Agarmak and With hunt

DA:O>DA:A>GoA>WH

I cannot bring myself to complete Awakenings. I'm about halfway through and it was just terrible.

Hopefully there will be sites that allow download of saves,

It likely will have some effect.  Maybe not the plot, but mention may be made towards it.

I'm not going to leave spoilers here regarding the actual quest, but I do know there is a quest that's in the sequel that's tied to the events of Awakening. So, that quest in the sequel might play out differently based on what happened in Awakening (if it happens at all, because it may not, as the devs have said plot points can change based on who put on the throne etc.)

The interview where I heard the plot point thing from was from December I think, so it wasn't an early interview. So, I'd say it's worthwhile importing.

Edit: Btw, I've not played Golems yet, but the general impression seems to be there's really no decisions to be made. I'll be going through it myself at some point before release of DA 2 on the PS3.

I think Awakening and DLCs decisions WON'T affect DA2 for a simple reason:

You don't have the chance to make a Post Campaign savegame, so the last moments of your game are not saved: you can't save after talking to Morrigan in Witch Hunt, so no matter if you go with her/kill her/ or not...

same for Awakening: you can't save before seeing the ending, and different paths you companions take when they leave.

Bioware always says this. See, Mass Effect on the Iphone for reference. When in reality it's barely a conversation line that's spout off. I highly doubt any conclusions to any quests would play out differently based on previous saves.

Even in Mass Effect a direct sequal of shepards story the choices didn't have huge implications visa vi the completion of quests.

In Dragon Age 2 where they haven't even really advertised the fact saves are referencial. I Promise you, it will be mere winks to the audience. Not massive plot discreptencies

Yes it does if you have Witch Hunt 1.1

same for Awakening: you can't save before seeing the ending, and different paths you companions take when they leave.

Those are already decided before you see the epilogue, so that data is saved.  Heck, those endings are decided before you even fight mother.
