Isabela and Fenris .

Please be Fenris.

I can already hear the "why am I forced to take the gay guy." complaints if it's Anders. >_>

Then make it Varric. Really, Zevran is hated in a brazillian DA board just because he's bisexual - they just call him the brazilian equivalent of the 'f word' and don't even use him. I'm sure that, however it's the bisexual LI, he'll be hated in many brazilian boards. Such a nice country.

You want Varric to be hated?  Not a fan then?

...OR... maybe pursuing romance with Anders makes Justice develop 'mortal feelings' for Hawke as well, so it's like a weird, two person love triangle. Who knows?

That's... kinda hot actually.

thatd be funny if anders liked men and justice/vengeance disapproved

I think Justice would disapprove of any romance, period, to be honest. He'd probably get upset that Anders is fooling around when they could be out justice/vengeance-ing it up somewhere.

I'm pretty sure Varric is a forced companion. Fenris can not be recruited *period* that makes no sense for Varric.

Seeing as Isabela and Fenris both don't have to be met, I'd say them.

The bi LI's in Origins could be skipped as well.

I can honestly NOT see Fenris being a bi LI. The only reason people assume it's him is because he's an elf. I honestly don't think he's an LI at all, let alone bi. I say Anders is the straight LI, and Varric is the bi LI.

Well my assumption has nothing to do with the fact hes an elf I just don't see the narrator being an option or he could be I've just never seen any stories where the narrator is the love interest.

:/

Yeah totally has nothing to do with the fact that Varric is the least likely to be a romance period and that Anders shows no such leanings in Awakening. Or that the fact that you can skip him means there's no excuse for certain gamers to complain about homosexuality being forced on them.

Nope just because he's an elf.

Narrator and supposedly going to show up in another game. (Along with Cassandra).

Him being an LI for Hawke (unless Hawke kicks the bucket giving him Carth Syndrome) would add alot of unneeded headaches. You already have the rival/friend versions of narration. Then you add in the rival lover/friendly lover.

To me it seems a lot of work for relatively little reward.

That said it's just my own bias.

Bi Companions: Isabela (Judging from the Live Gameplay with Mike Laidlaw). and Fenris (I always kinda thought of him as a Zevran rehash so...)

Straight Companions: Anders (He liked Girls in Awakening, and I don't think Justice thought of that stuff.) and Merril (She's apparently the virginal girl so yeah...)

Fenris and Zevran aren't similar in personality.

And how exactly does being virginal make you straight?

Varric is the one that strikes me as the one most likely to be bi. I don't ... really know why. But there it is.

I don't see how being a narrator makes him less LI than Fenris. And I'm sure Bioware can find a excuse for why he's appearing in the new game just as easily - romances don't need to end with you and Varric holding hands and walking in the generic direction of the sunshine.

Also, I'm sure you can be Isabela's lover or friend, and this don't make her less LI.

In an rpg, this is not my biggest concern. It's become a bit of an obsession with Bioware fans to say the least, the whole romance bit. This has to be said. Are they making a romance sim game, or an RPG? Let's move beyond this, I say.

I'm sorry, but while I would like bi and gay options, I don't understand the obsession with this.

Varric is the one that strikes me as the one most likely to be not an LI at all B)

@slimgrin: Every good story has a romance. Even third-rate action films have a romance sub-plot, and while those aren't that enjoyable* the principle stands. It's the easiest way for the protagonist to form meaningful relationships with her co-stars.

*like, at all

It's a feature, just like putting armors and weapons in your character. Just like roleplaying. Some people like a feature more than another. I don't see the problem here.

I already gave my reasoning. You don't have to agree with it.

...Though what does that last sentence mean? I never said you couldn't be friends. I said the narration would change to reflect that. Why would Varric talk about a lover the same way he would a rival/friend? Why would he treat a lover on the friend path the same way he would one on the lover path? Would he describe them in the same way?

It's more than a feature. Mr. Gaider provided a wonderful explanation a while back. He said that throughout the game, there are numerous hooks to make the player really care about what she's doing. Romances are one way to do that. Not the only way, obviously, but an effective way to invest the player in the story. Aside from that, smecks is just good storytelling.
