Ok, so I just completed DAO.

Kinda annoyed at the ending.  Morrigan ran off and left me with all the child support payments but no pootang. - Kidding.  She did however run away, that I did not lie about.

How exactly do I get her to stay?

I also think I'm missing a huge part of the game that I would get if I played it again with a differnt setup?
I'm guessing thats right?

Also, hello :) I am Lop0 (aka Mikey) - Pleased to meet you.

You cannot get her to stay, but you will get closure in Witch Hunt if you import character.

Well there a total of six origins. All of them are different. There are four romanceable companions, you have romanced one. The other three may stay with you depending upon your choices. There are three classes. You have played one.

Try playing the game differently. You may be surprised by what you find.

It looks like you played a human noble warrior. I get the impression you like in game sex. Give the dwarf noble origin a try. If you really want to switch it up, play a city elf female rogue. I guarantee you will see another side of the game. If you want total raw power, play a mage. If you want the ability to tell an entire country to go to he**, play a dwarf commoner.

Morrigan will never stay but she has her own DLC for you to work out the problems in your relationship. Its definetly worth a go. For a proper save file setup and proper story progression play in this order and import forward always. " Origins>Awakening>Golems of Amgarrak>Witch Hunt " At the end of Witch Hunt you can work out with her whatever is your choice but the game will end and create your save for dragon age 2 to import.

Witch Hunt really brings Morrigan running off back again full circle, you will be satisfied.

Also if this really didnt settle well with you and your playing another game...not to spoil anything but if your romancing Alistair as a female one of the possible outcomes will be he leaves you. To avoid this is simple but so many ignore it. Give Alistair the life he wants.

The other two romances are great and a little creepy (Hardened Leliana is scary territory).

If you have any other questions @mousestalker and @ussnorway are excellent sources of info for this topic. Im sure they could acomodate your querys.

Give the human noble a try then. Many people seem to like it. As a nobleman, you can marry Anora and be prince regnant consort. As a noblewoman you can marry Alistair and be queen.

If you have the DLC (Witch Hunt), romance Morrigan again as a Dalish. Actually take your mage through Witch Hunt. Witch only sucks if you didn't romance Morri or if you aren't Dalish.

Dahlish ties into Witch Hunt and Dragon Age 2 with Merrill it seems. I think Bioware is trying to give that origin some love since its the one truly neutral orign that dosnt have any major personal intrests in any of the events. (The Nobles are the worst. instant personal grudges and story perspective take)
