Hellow,
My previous topic was 3 days ago, and I asked about how to edit character sounds and dialogues. I've been using NI since then to mess my game up. I've figured out a few things, but now I really want to ask about this:
I'm trying to modify the file FBLADE.ITM, which is the sword "Flame Blade" Battle Horrors use. Normally the Dicesize is 8 for a Long Sword - 1D8, but for this sword, it's only 2, and two possible values are 8 and 9. I don't know if this already counts the Strength or whatever bonus of Battle Horrors. Now if I change this value from 2 to 8, it will start counting from 8 to 15. I believe normally it should count from 1 to 8, then add the bonus +1 +2 or +3 etc.
Another thing is, the Damage bonus of the sword is 4, and 4 possible values 1,2, 3, 4 will be added in parentheses as bonus damage. But then, this sword has an effect which adds FIRE damage, with a Fixed Damage of 0, and a power of 8 (???)
I've been messing with these numbers for a whole day. If I change both the Damage bonus and the Fixed Damage (in Effect) to 2, the bonus damage a Battle Horror can do can still get up to 8. The game even crashed to windows several times when I was fighting a Battle Horror. I think because it got some impossible values or something.
So, in summary, what does this whole thing mean? Could someone please tell me how the damage Battle Horrors (or the Flame Blade) deal is actually calculated? What does the Power value do?
Thank you.

Okay I figured it out. Not as complicated as I thought. The game crashed maybe because I changed the color index for Battle Horrors (still weird though.) And I just realized, Battle Horrors, as well as the Doomsayer, have 5 points in Large Sword Proficiency, yet the Flame Blade they use was put into Short Swords Category. So they've always been fighting with a weapon they have no point of proficiency in. They gained 5 additional damage points, along with To Hit bonus, just because I changed the category of FBLADE from Short Swords to Long Swords (and the blade is already a +4 weapon., with another 1D4 Fire Damage.) The only thing I'm still not sure about all this Item Ability is the "Power" value... Oh well.
