...I just love this godforsaken game why have I devoted literally days of gameplay time to it? I don't know really but I'm glad there's somewhere to talk about this nerdy crap

Truth.

My stack of awesome games I need to finish has only grown since I got ME2.  I just keep coming back to playthrough yet another build.  I think it's because this game so effectively combines the two aspects of gaming I personally find most addicting, variety of possible builds/tactics to play through the game with and fun third-person combat.

+1. Though Dead Space 2 has successfully grabbed my attention lately, but that's getting off-topic.

I only wish Mass Effect 2 had eyefinity support like deadspace 2.

a soldier with stasis practically is an adept so just play that. maybe a soldier with stasis is a better "adept."

Yeah, that video is really cool. Too bad we can pick up only one weapon at DCS, I'd love to have all weapons available and just switch between missions.
It's not like it would make Soldier even more OP, Claymore + Revenant + Widow is not really better than GPS + Mattock + Widow anyway.

Thanks. Yeah picking up all 3 special weapons would be really fun and it wouldnt break the balance of the game. That's where mods come in (to make the game more fun). Sometimes I add these weapons to adept as well. Awesome weaponry + awesome powers = epic win.

but werent you one of those people that didnt want the removal of classes for ME3?

In my opinion, the Adapt class should be almost completely gun free. A pistol should be the only weapon you get, and it should be rarely used. Shepard would behave more like Cole in Infamous, where you run around with your hand extended to aim your biotics. Same goes for Jack. She shouldn't need guns at all. Just raw biotic power would be more bad ass.

That being said, I always choose soldier or vanguard, because I highly enjoy over powering my enemies.

Soldier and Adept both take a lot of strategy but different types. For the soldier it is about positioning and when to move. You take cover in the wrong place and get flanked then you better hope someone has cyro, pull, or something to CC the enemy flanking you. Sometimes you have to retreat or be overrrun. There are times when husks surround you so bad you can't shoot them all with an assault rifle on full blast and AR. A Vanguard could pull some away to take the heat off. I don't mean this to be offensive but to me Soldier feels more like MOH or COD. It is about which gun to use and how to best use your cover and terrain. For instance, the old retreat to a reverse slope if no cover is available. You have to have back up plans for cover so you stop a flanking move. Sometimes Krogan is your best friend drawing some heat sometimes you need someone with powers to save your bacon when you get overwhelmed. Although, I think soldier might be a lot easier with cyro for CC.

I haven't played adept for a full game but it feels more like a Dragon Age mage. Your job is CC or a damager. This is less strategy as to where to take cover and less worry about being flanked because you have some crowd control ability. You have a lot of strategy in which "spell" to use and how to combine but less worry about what is happening tactically on the battlefield and less concern over terrain and how to use it properly. You just to try to stay to the rear.

Honestly, I think infiltrator and Vanguard are the most challenging tactically. A mistimed charge does not throw off your rhythm and waste a spell it kills you. If your cloak times out before you get to cover you might be dead with an infiltrator. I really find the hybrid classes more challenging then pure tech, biotic, or soldier. They are hybrid because they mix powers with some soldier skills but they play differently from any other class.

Really, I found Infiltrator to be easier to play than the Soldier and Sentinel is just plain godlike its very hard to die , that's me playing all on insanity and I like CQC style mostly, soldier is more challenging to me because really you have no powers , with infiltrator u can cloak , enemies stop shooting at u , u run low on ammo , incinerate them even with shielding it burns out shields u just need to plan ur moves no run and gunning that's what the soldier or vanguard is for.
Sentinel ur freak'n armor makes u invincible for the most part and when it goes down it knocks enemies down out of ammo u have tech and biotics to use , IMHO , adaept and soldier are the most challenging, soldier has limited CC, adept has limited brute firepower but more CC sure you can makeup for each by picking a bounus power or /and weapon but other classes seem to have a distraction or deterrent power to help u out more

 Well which is best?

If you've never played ME2 before and are kind of new to TPS as well, then play Soldier first.

Otherwise, go Adept, as it's got a steeper learner curve.

What's the best? Soldier or Adept? I would say the best is: Adept, Soldier, Sentinel, Engineer, Infiltrator and Vanguard! Who will define what is the best in reality is yourself and no one else!
