I can’t decide between the too. I would like reasons for both. I beat the game with adept. I want to play on hardcore.

Vanguard - fast paced fights, Charge is your main power by far
Engineer - generally uses more powers, slower pace
Engineer is very similar to Adept as far as playstyle goes.

As Kronner said, Engineer and Adept have similar playstyles. Engineers are a little more orientated towards subtlety and disruption as opposed to the Adept's raw destruction and CC, but functionally they're similar.
Vanguard is about as far away as you can get from playing an Engineer. It's a class for people who think Soldiers aren't violent enough.

@Kronner and @JaegerBane
You don't know how to play with Adept and Engineer.
Both of classes can be fast paced.

If you're looking for the most fun, with going all in to one role, go with Sentinel. You can build them to be really aggressive front line brawlers (grab a shotty or assault rifle from collector ship and upgrade to assault armor asap) or rear guard supporters/controllers (neural shock + viper + throw? yes pls). There's a ton of guides out there for all the classes, but if you don't want the all-out aggression - and lots of deaths - of a Vanguard, Sentinel is the next best choice imho., especially for Hardcore and Insanity.

Your reading comprehension is very, very poor. This is not the first (nor last I might add) gem from you.

You can easily play a ranged engineer sitting behind cover and shooting/using powers. But I found that it was also quite easy to get up close and personal without much risk if you use your drone. The best thing is that it's spammable, so you can get out of trouble if you fail to kill something and can't get behind cover. Or if it gets killed of course.
Yes engineers and adepts are quite similar. But I had more luck in general using drone to disable enemies than singularity. It dies quickly sometimes but you can always summon a new one right away. You can even use drone without leaving cover. It'll pick a target on its own but it's great if someone is approaching your cover.
I never understood why some people consider engineers weak. The drone is a pretty unfair advantage.

These two are my favorite classes. Personally I think Engineer is very similar to Vanguard. For me, a Vanguard is an Engineer who is their own Combat Drone (I always cast Attack Drone where I would Charge, and vice versa, except when Droning un-Chargeable Heavies), and who uses Pull/Warp Bombs instead of Neural Shock/AI Hacking, and Reave/Energy Drain instead of Incinerate/Overload. Both are extremely effective in all situations. My Claymore Vanguard kills everything in about 60%~70% of the time as my GPS Engineer but both kill very fast.
I also think Combat Drone is quite OP. It's like a Stasis which doesn't prevent damage, lasts until it's destroyed, can be casted beyond power lock-on range, is automated, and has a 1.8-second cooldown with full upgrades. It's really hard not to abuse it.

Seeing that you just beat the game with Adept, I would probably recommend Vanguard. I think both Kronner and JaegerBane have pretty much explained mostly the reasons for doing so, and being that I've finally now just played all the classes with Vanguard being the most recent and final class, I'm a bit disappointed I waited so long.
The Engineer with the drone offers some tactical advantages you obviously wont get with really any other class, but the Vanguard is flat out uniquely aggressive and "in your face" (quite literally), and being that I've beat the game several times with Adept (I just like being a biotic god for some reason), Vanguard truly felt the most stylistically different.
For what its worth, I think the game is fun with every class, I just think you'll get the most change in style of play with the Vanguard than you would with the Engineer, seeing as you've just finished with the Adept.
After you beat it with the Vanguard, I think you'd then have a lot more fun playing the Engineer afterwards since it'd be another change up in the play style again.
