Hello everybody! B)

I have installed the Combat Tweaks mod, which seems to feature an impressive array of fixes to the DAO game, corrections that its original developers eschewed from implementing. As such, many character builds that were weak in vanilla DAO have become useable (Archer builds and Shapeshifters, for example).

I want to ask your opinion on the mod's impact on gameplay in general and character builds in particular. Does anyone use this mod? Has anyone finished the game using it? What are your impressions about it?

I am thinking about starting a new game using this mod, oscillating between an Archer Rogue, Dual-Wield Rogue and DPS Mage. I would be grateful of any feedback provided! :D

All the very best,
Mihnea

I have not used the mod. However, I find an Archer/ DW Rogue hybrid is generally my fave source of exploring new territory. Being able to kill foes at range is sweet; imagining their regret by choosing to close is a dream.

Recommended Attributes: STR 38-42 to wear any choices in armors; Cunning 30 for Deft Hands; Will 20-30 as you deem fit; DEX max.

I have a horrifiying combo of difficulty increasing mods that I currently use with no side effects your super DPS Rogues and Mages will be squishy and knocked down at a record pace and that is just the beginning.

You can still win but you will have to REALLY plan out some serious strategies as enemies will all be given a serious brain transplant.

A preview of the terror if you will I use a lot of manual mods so a screenshot will be forth coming if your interested.

Back on topic the Combat Tweaks mods is somewhat decent if you don't use any conflicting mods (and there are a lot of them which I've had to gut combat tweaks changes for...) many of the Mage changes ie (nerfs..) are unecessary especially if you use any difficulty mods.

It all depends on what you're looking for if you want to have semi-useful bombs and traps and such then sure combat tweaks is decent but if you want smarter enemies or gameplay/ quest bug fixes then you may do better looking else where.

You don't need this mod to make a decent DW Rogue. Archer builds are really powerfull on the long run. My next try will be a Spirit Warrior Archer.

Did you actually use that mod? It does not only change your and your parties skills but the one of enemies too. Encounters that involve casters and / or archers are quite a bit harder than in the vanilla game. Chain Lighting cast by an enemy for examle is practically a reload beauce it makes your whole party spasm in a stun lock for quite some time.

@ OP:
The support for this mod is discontinued AFAIK but it is still totally worth it.
I did finish the game  serveral times with and without the mod and can honestly say I would not want to play without it anymore.

Cept your talking to the Warden who runs around with 100% Dodge/Spell resistance build that does around 400 damage a auto attack with +50% attack speed.

I enjoy Combat Tweaks, though it does override many base game resources, namely surrounding abilities.

Biggest impact to any particular class? My opinion is on a backstabbing rogue. Not only does CT make major adjustments to poisons, but it also makes activated talents able to backstab. Long as you're behind the enemy, Flurry/Punisher/etc. will always crit, and most of the dual wield skills that have secondary effects (stuns/debuffs) will be unresistable if backstabbed.

Difficulty mods? I am currently just using RAVage for increased numbers, and the creature scaling tweak from CT's optional files. Looking at BlazingSpeed's photos up above (awesome btw), I can see RAVage and Flash Creatures Rescale being used at the least. Both are on DANexus, and both have adjustable difficulty options.

My apologies for the wait while combat tweaks will not clash with these mods it does clash will Qwinns Fixpak and the Rule fixpak as well as many others you can use this gda editor to make CT compatible with the other mods.

Many mods also have their own compatibility patches for Combat Tweaks,
