Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me with this please?

PC version
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8500 @3.16GHz
4.00 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 3800 Series (Don't know how much VRAM that is) Driver 8.762
SigmaTel HD Audio CODEC (6.10)
Vista 32 bit
Direct X 11

Ok, so when I first had ME1 a couple of years ago it played fine, last year I bought ME2 and that played fine as well, then around late autumn 2010 ME2 started to stutter every so often.  This would be on gameplay, videos or conversations.  This isn't enough to spoil gameplay but it is annoying.  It is only a little stutter every 1 to 2 minutes but it would be noticable on conversations and cutscenes.  Recently I just played a playthrough of ME1 and it was doing it there as well (it even did it on the credits and squad screen).

Things I've tried:-
I tried rolling back video drivers as these have changed in the last year but it has no effect.
I thought it might be a patch so I uninstalled ME2 and reinstalled it but the same thing happened.  And I updated ME 1 to 1.02 which I didn't have but it is the same.
I don't know if it is linked but sometimes I get a little sound problem where at the beginning of someone talking there is little (I don't know how to describe it) noise so you can't make out the first word of that sentence.

Well I think I've descibed everything I can think of, if anybody as any ideas that would be appriciated.

Thanks,

PS.  Should I post this on ME2's Technical forum as well?

I'm afraid I can't tell you what the problem is, either. One thing I would suggest testing, though, is to run either game in a window, so that you can also have Task Manager up at the same time. Have it on the processes tab, sorted by highest CPU use, and see if anything else is grabbing CPU cycles when this happens.

Have you had this problem with other games, though? If it's really just the MEs that would probably point more to drivers. Especially since you seem to have audio glitches. Have you updated your audio drivers over the last year?

1) Reinstall DirectX9.0c

2) Roll your vid drivers back a revision or two, as newer drivers often include tweaks designed for newer games, and can screw up older games like ME2.
