This is not available in in-game settings. Googled it and it said change it in the launcher, which I guess would pop up if it was not the Steam version but I don't have that. How do you enable 1440x900 resolution on the steam version? Thanks.

Several possibilities:
-Are you sure it doesn't show up in game? The resolution list does have scroll buttons, but they do a very good job of hiding.
-Steam doesn't provide a shortcut for the config utility, unfortunately. You can find it in Mass Effect\\binaries under wherever your Steam games are installed.
-If somehow it really isn't in either, you can manually edit the StartupResolution settings in BIOEngine.ini, in Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect\\Config

Thanks. The last option worked for me.

check the config utility on the launcher.. when you go to graphic settings there is a box right under resolution that has 4:3 in, change it to 16:9 and the widescreen resolutions will show on the box above#
apologies this is wrong, well not wrong.. but the config settings dont portay into the game itself.. when in game on the resolution setting, you will see 2 blue arrows just right of the lowest resolution setting, clicking that a few times should bring you across the 1440x900
