Do all origins get dog? I've only seen one in the human noble previews. Do human nobles get a head start on dog friendship then? Do other races get one after the orgin story? Kind of like "Welcome to the Grey Wardens, have a dog"

Yes, you just have to find him. If your race is human(not mage) you'll most likely find him quicker. Just like you have to find Morrigan, Sten, etc.

there is a vid where it shows the PC as a mage and the dog appears suddenly to warn u then ur attacked.....but the human noble gets him quicker just like im sure each orgin meets a character quicker



though every orgin gets the dog sooner or later

You only get him in the Human Noble Origin, but he's available to other PC's after their respective Origin sections. He's supposedly available quite early on even then.

All other Origins: Gets Dog early in the game, possibly has something to do with the Mabari at Ostagar, but that is speculation, regardless, he is one of the first available companions.

That's a good question. I'm big on naming people (or animals) to fit the setting. So, while I won't name him "Sir fluffin'puff" I will try to figure out what common names people from the region name their Dogs. I know, in The Calling, Kell's Dog was named Hafter. So that's a start, I suppose.

I just wish I had more insight into the type of culture the area is modeled after, so I can better name him. Maybe David Gaider will respond and enlighten me.

Sorry, this question might have been solved already - but this seems like a perfect thread to ask. Do we know what "class" our lovely dog will emulate the most. I know you can change the skins for different things, but is he more of a damage dealer or tankish?

I believe he's a balance of both damage and tanking. His abilities seem to be a buff (via urinating), a debuff (growl/bark), and a knockdown and maul maneuver.

He sounds very much like a hybrid class.

If the above is accurate. And I'm not sure if it is.

Personally I like the name Dogmeat, for obvious nostalgic reasons.

I plan to have the dog in my party for a good bit but its tough considering each character looks fun to have....cept wynne i dont want the old bag to be hurt
