1. What are the requirements for getting a "perfect" suicide mission IE: no one dies? Is it different for paragon and renegade, and how does it work exactly? My first time through I was paragon with everyone loyal except Miranda I think because I was overly nice to Jack at some point and Tali was the only one to die for me.

2. Having put a good amount of mileage into my Soldier I am looking for something different to play now. I am thinking either an Adept, a Sentinel or a Engineer. I don't plan on playing on Insanity due to the fact that I enjoy playing ME2 more when I don't die after 3 seconds out of cover. Hardcore is more my pace for standard play.

Anyone have a specific playstyle for any of the classes mentioned above that they found downright fun?

That depends on your point of view, technically everyone surviving a suicide mission is an epic fail :P

Theres a guide somewhere on here and the wiki is probably a good place too. Generally the way to go is:

Garrus team leader everytime,

Tali or Legion in the vents,

Escort is best Kasumi or Mordin,

Jack for the Biotic field (Samara is just as good but wasting her Reave vs Collectors and Husks would be silly),

Take anyone who isn't Grunt or Zaeed, with you to fight the Reaper.

Mostly if you pick anyone for a particularly job they need to be loyal otherwise they or someone else dies. Picking a poor choice for something like team leader or biotic field leads to people dieing regardless of loyalty (its why i lost Tali on my first playthrough). Non loyalty doesn't matter for other people except for giving a lower 'defence' score which determines if anyone dies when you beat the reaper.

I guess she died because I sent Grunt as the escort then, that or Miranda as my other team leader if I am not mistaken.

Miranda as team leader should be fine in both cases, especially if she's loyal. And your escort doesn't matter as long as he/she is loyal. So I think you meant that you sent Grunt as the first fire team leader. If so then yeah, that's not a good choice. Garrus, Miranda or Jacob is better.

I am pretty sure I sent Grunt back with the crew, but it doesn't really matter. I got the info I need to make my squad love me on my new Sentinel.

Edit: I have enough MS points to get the Aegis pack and the Overlord pack finishing off the DLC I don't have for ME2 (Equalizer pack aside, nothing there I want.) Are those two packs worth the points? I have exactly 720 left and I don't see any other place to spend exactly 720 so I am thinking so. How is that armor for an assault/shotgun Sentinel?

I'm fond of the Kestrel Armor.  Some people don't like how it looks on female Shepard, or how the helmet looks.  I'm not one of those people.  The DLC is worth it.  I wouldn't get the Equalizer pack, though, as you've said.  Its most appealing item doesn't even work.

I like to play my Sentinels with Assault Armor and shotgun specialization for close combat invulnerability.  You could give that a try, though the beginning of the game might be a bit slow.  Engineers are fun and very forgiving with their Drones.  Again, I'd take a shotgun when given the opportunity.  As for Adepts, everyone says to rely on Singularity.  That's good advice, but don't neglect Pull.  Those two skills have some overlap, but both are handy to have.

I agree with EvilSod, just appending minor points for more options.

As for your 2nd question, IMHO the Sentinel to be more suited for Insanity, but I know there's different opinions due to everyone's playstyles.  As a frame of reference, with a Sentinel on Insanity, I died 5 times in the whole playthrough, while with the other classes I often died 5 times in just Omega.

That statistic doesn't tell the whole story, obviously.  There's a lot of different perspectives from others that I also see and acknowledge, but from experience Sentinel just has a better time.

You already know Insanity makes you take cover a lot more, that it's just often a battle of attrition to wear down enemies.  What I learned from experience was that your squad members are even more vulnerable...they're the weak link in the chain, rather than your specific class.  When they fall, they leave your flanks wide open.

What I found with the Sentinel is that not only is the Tech Armour good for protecting Shepard, but your increased survivability draws fire from your squad mates.  In terms of class, each has its own strengths & weaknesses, but the Sentinel just seems to help the team as a whole that little bit more.

In terms of a Sentinel build, I say get Assault Armour or your class skill early as you'll likely replenish your shields often, then feel free to do whatever you want...as long as you got your Sentinel defenses, you're okay.  For the bonus skill, I prefer an ammo power, as you've even active powers to keep you busy.

*Tali/Legion/Kasumi for ventilation shafts.

*Garrus/Jacob/Miranda for 2nd fire team leader.

*Samara/Jack for biotic shield.

*Mordin for escort duty because he has the lowest defense score and is most likely to die in Hold The Line.

*Leave Grunt, Zaeed and Garrus in Hold The Line just to be sure(I think two of them should do it, but I don't know exact numbers).

*Take Miranda and Thane/Samara for double warp or warp+reave combo against barriers.

All squad members should be loyal.

Also try engineer for your next playthrough, I've been soldier player too, but I am having a blast with engineer.

If you're looking for a fresh yet familiar experience class-wise, Infiltrator is fundamentally similar to Soldier, with both focusing primarily on weapon damage. What I personally did for the last mission(as an Infiltrator) is this:

Tech Specialist: Legion
First Squad: Zaeed Massani and Grunt(high weapon damage and durability to keep the Collectors busy while I rush for the valves)
First Fireteam Leader: Garrus Vakarian

Biotic Specialist: Samara
Second Squad: Jack and Thane Krios(Squad Warp Ammo helps take down barriers quicker, Pull+Warp combos are as good as ever, and Thane's Throw Field wrecks Husks)
Second Fireteam Leader: Jacob Taylor
Crew Escort: Mordin Solus

Third Squad: Miranda Lawson and Kasumi Goto(I did this because Miranda's weapon damage buff helps me kill the boss that much quicker and her Warp wrecks Collector barriers, while Kasumi's Shadow Strike can kill unprotected Collectors easily and her Flashbang Grenade ensures that Harbinger is a non-issue)
