Personally I like a re-spec option towards the end game, or basically whenever your character is already pretty maxed out. Not so much for a complete new build, but being able to re-spec allows a little bit of tweaking to get the most from your character.

There were several playthrough's where I was just one point or two short of a skill or ability I wanted and it was so bloody frustrating.

Funny part is...those who say "I dont like it" will probably end up using it anyway.

I can promise, I won't.

Didn't do it in Awakening, and there was actually a reason to do it, with the new specializations and skills.  Thought about it, but didn't.

It also saves your slightly unstable character from screaming "Lies!!!" when Zevran lists lock-picking amongst his talents.  This way, it really *could* be so.   Lock picking my arse...

Thanks for the respec ability in DAII.  Great news. :)

He can pick locks! All rogues can pick locks. Those 5 experience chests can be unlocked by any rogue no matter what.

Glad to know there's a respec option, the devs have listened!

Now we can actually play with a party that we want instead of a party that we are forced to take out of necessity (those of us who don't mod or play on consoles...specifically).

:D Wicked. I was hoping there was one. In my mind, Fenris NEEDS to be a sword-n-boarder. That's assuming you can use it on companions as well as just Hawke.

That's good news, I hated having a character added to the party at a higher level who had strange skill choices.
I hope respeccing has a steep cost though, so that it feels like a meaningful decision.

I dont believe respeccing will allow you to make a sword and boarder out of Fenris. It has been shown that companions can use only one style and are missing the other skill tree.

Well, I don't like re-speccing a character.

I could see it for the PC in Awakening, since they added specializations and skills.

And sometimes I can see it for companions, but given how the devs seem to have the companions as set characters, with set skill/spcialization intents, I can't see it here.

I'm guessing no.

If DA2 does a better job of leveling companions than DA:O did, I can do without. Picking up Oghren at high levels only to find you can't fill out his 2-handed tree for several levels was plain stupid.

Oh no, this isn't a mod.  Well, I suppose it is, but it's in game.

It's like the Tomes of . . well, whatever the Tomes were of that they had in Awakening.  It's an option available on all platforms.

Mike! Thanks for the answer, but I'm wonder wether the respec option would refund the initial free skill that we get at level 1? (Pummel Strike, Miasma Flask, Mind Blast) Or are we stuck with those skills?

Respeccing without drinkling a potion pooped out by a crow ? Bloody Marvellous Image IPB

(No disrespect to werikk as it was a great mod. But where do you reckon a crow holds an unlimited supply of potions ?)
